People Have Some Crazy Ideas About What’s in Ivana Trump’s Casket Since She Was Cremated

If you didn’t know that there’s such a thing as Resistance Twitter, well now you know. And while we already have zillions of bonkers conspiracy theories, this new one that’s now circulating makes all of the others almost normal by comparison.

This one involves Ivana Trump’s casket. As in incriminating documents, the Lindbergh baby, a real piece of Jesus’ cross, that nefarious pee tape, and dog knows what else, are buried in Ivana’s casket, Vice [1] reports. According to the brainiacs who hatched this new theory, now that the FBI has raided Mar-a-Lago, it may be necessary to unearth Ivana’s casket to see if Donald Trump is hiding things in there. Ivana died in July and was buried at Trump’s New Jersey golf club. And many people believe she was buried there for an alleged tax break. [2] If you didn’t already know that Donald Trump is a poor excuse for a human being, well now you do.

Resistance Twitter was born during Trump’s presidency, and it’s a group of fiery progressives who wrote explosive threads [3] about Trump’s misdeeds. But these folks weren’t necessarily concerned with sharing accurate information. Nope, they were hoping to build themselves up and thus began cranking the conspiracy theories out. It’s more than clear that Trump was influenced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, but these people were purporting Trump was a Russian agent or an actual Manchurian candidate and often predicting things that didn’t come true (mass arrests, and that the Mueller report [4] would get the job done. It didn’t.)

Heck, even everyday people took to Resistance Twitter, and even those with a small number of followers suddenly began tweeting as if they were experts on collusion and the definition of the Emoluments Clause. The term “Blue Anon” sprung from this, attracting even Marjorie Taylor Greene, conspiracy theorist extraordinaire, Fox News’s Candace Owens, and White nationalist Jack Posobiec.

Greene’s tweet is from a suspended account, but I’ll share Owens’s and Posobiec’s nonsense.

I think we can assume here that Posobiec doesn’t have a good grasp of the definition of “irony:”

And as Trump’s legal troubles continue to grow after pleading the Fifth in response to New York Attorney General Letitia James’s inquiry and the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago, Resistance Twitterers are at it again, tweaking as much crazy as QAnon fanatics do.

So what’s one really creepy theory these people are promoting? Well, this one, according to Vice:

“One of the grimmer things that’s begun circulating is that Ivana Trump’s gold casket was suspiciously heavy, a theory promoted most notably by Jon Cooper, who Politico [8] once politely described as prone to tweeting ‘outlandish statements.’ (The Daily Beast went with the more incisive description ‘fake garbage.'” [9]

Indeed, Cooper recently posted this gem on Twitter:

“Seriously, is anyone else wondering—just a bit—what other stuff may be buried inside Ivana’s casket on Trump’s golf course?”

Almost as soon as she died, conspiracy theories about Ivana’s death began mushrooming because the medical examiner reported that the cause of her death was blunt force trauma, having been discovered at the bottom of her stairs. The death has been ruled accidental, but since it nearly coincided with depositions Trump and two of his children were set to give in the New York investigation, this effectively delayed [11] the depositions and sent Resistance Twitterers off their collective nuts. And I’m going to point out here that there is no evidence that Ivana’s death was, in any way, suspicious.

But now these folks are saying her casket looked too heavy, that there were too many pallbearers for this slight, 73-year-old woman, and that it makes no sense to bury someone who was allegedly cremated.

“Apparently, Trump had Ivana CREMATED… so what the hell was stuffed in that casket he had buried under his golf course?” entrepreneur William LeGate, tweeted, (even though Vice notes it’s not uncommon for families to bury their cremated loved ones in caskets.)

And then there’s this tweet, from soap opera actress Nancy Lee Grahn:

Should you wish to search for “Ivana Trump Casket” [13] on Twitter, all sorts of gems will pop up.

So it seems even folks on the left can be as nutty as their counterparts on the right. But the likelihood is, like so many other conspiracy theories this one will blow over and they’ll be on to newer and even more preposterous ones. I’ve been writing about politics since 2011 and if there’s one thing I can tell you, it’s that these things never change.
