[CORRECTION] Lara Trump Videos Her Son ‘Building Character’ by Being Forced to Play in Torrential Rain and Blustery Winds

UPDATE: Per the original Instagram post, it appears Lara Trump took her son out before it started to rain. In the post, Lara wrote, “Thought we had a clear window, turns out we did some character building instead.” When we originally saw the video it was on Twitter and didn’t have that bit of information. So, therefore, it appears Lara didn’t take her son out in the rain intentionally but tried to have a little fun before the rain started, and boom…the Florida rain and Hurricane Ian hit them pretty quickly. We apologize for the mistake and will keep the post up for transparency.

When it comes to MAGAs, the most valuable and admired “character” is toughness and strength. Hurricane Ian is so big that Eric and Lara’s neighborhood in Jupiter, Florida, will get heavy, heavy rains and strong – possible tropical story gusts. A light went off in Lara’s empty head. She would take advantage of the dangerous weather to build up her son’s “toughness” by taking a child that looks to be three years old, out into incredible rain and blustery winds, in a t-shirt, to play on his electric tractor. One’s heart breaks when the video shows a frightened child in tears, surely wanting to go in and be comforted by his mom.

In the video below, you’ll see the torrential rain (it is more than you’d expect) and how hard the rain blows into her son’s face. You also notice that the very, very young son is in tears, and the rain appears to be hurting his face. It looks like child abuse, nothing of character:

Of course, Lara could’ve used the storm to build other qualities. There is the chance to say, “Nature can be dangerous and you have to know when to respect it and not go outside. Rain can flood certain areas, including roads, which makes it dangerous and can hurt people. Blustery winds makes branches fall, which could hurt someone. You must know when to respect nature.”

Situational awareness and judgment build character. Scaring your baby son to death while telling him it’ll make him “tough” doesn’t build character so much as it demonstrates that “toughness” is more important than the ability to think through the situation. The Trumps are not known to value thinking through a situation.

What we saw is closer to child abuse than helpful “character building.”
