Hitler Mustache Rioter Gets Hammered at Sentencing: Claims He Didn’t Know it Was the Capitol Building

Princeton is in New Jersey. Rutgers is in New Jersey. There are a lot of good people in New Jersey that are incredibly smart that have no association with the schools above. Telling a judge that, being from New Jersey, you didn’t know which building was the United States Capitol isn’t a very good defense. Perhaps the fact that the building was surrounded by “Capitol Police” would’ve been a tip for most? But arguing that you’re from New Jersey and that means you’re stupid isn’t a defense.

Anyway, the Hitler Mustache Rioter Guy got four years in federal prison. Despite the fact that prosecutors asked for six and a half years, that’s still a big-time sentence. The New Jersey Advance: [1]

Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, the former Naval base employee and Army reservist from Monmouth County convicted of rioting in the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was sentenced to four years in federal prison Thursday. Multiple reporters present at the sentencing in Washington, D.C. reported the sentence via Twitter. Prosecutors argued for 78 months, or 6 1/2 years, behind bars for Hale-Cusanelli, who they say is a white supremacist and anti-Semite.

Hale-Cusanelli has become somewhat of a leader among jailed Capitol riot suspects and has continued to harbor a fondness for Nazi writings and symbols, prosecutors said. From the stand, he made additional headlines for saying: “I know this sounds idiotic, but I’m from New Jersey. In all my studies, I didn’t know there was an actual building that was called the ‘Capitol.’ It’s embarrassing and idiotic.”

Yeah. An Army reservist doesn’t help his case. He should probably know the buildings he’s supposed to be defending. Of course, it doesn’t matter in the least whether he knew where he was. You don’t get violent with the police, and when you do, you repent, big time. Hale-Cusanelli failed. No surprise there.
