Trump Calls Ron DeSantis ‘Fat’ in Private, Also He’s ‘Whiny’ and a ‘Phony’

Maggie Haberman’s new book is about to hit the shelves and man alive, it is filled with some doozies. Of course Haberman learned a lot of her material while Trump was still in the White House, and saved it for her book. For example, the fact that Trump (or someone he ordered) would rip up documents and flush them, which is obviously against the law.

Trump also sat down with Haberman on three occasions and revealed quite a bit more for her book Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America. Haberman shared details of those conversations in an article for the Atlantic published Sunday, in which Trump claimed credit for DeSantis winning the GOP gubernatorial nomination back in 2018.

Trump called DeSantis “fat,” “phony,” and “whiny” when Haberman asked about him during a meeting late this summer at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. It is not clear if Trump offers additional disparaging remarks about DeSantis that are documented in the book and not the Atlantic article, but considering Trump’s obvious jealousy of DeSantis, you can probably bet on it.

Trump’s comments were made around the same it was revealed that DeSantis had raised more money since January of last year than Trump. DeSantis has out-fundraised the former president this year to the tune of $43 million, according to data collected by OpenSecrets. Polling also suggests the governor has an advantage over the former president in a hypothetical primary match-up in 2024.

Both men reportedly used to speak frequently when the former president was in office, but “those days are gone,” according to The Washington Post.

DeSantis has not publicly announced any designs to run for president in 2024, and he has repeatedly said that he intends to run for and remain Florida’s governor. But his rising national profile has obviously upset Trump as he sets his sights on returning to the White House. A good share of his posts on Truth Social are Trump showing polling numbers that show him beating DeSantis and having higher favorability than DeSantis.

While running for re-election against Democratic contender and former congressman Charlie Crist, DeSantis also has traveled across the country to rally alongside Trump-backed candidates in battleground states leading up to 2022 midterm elections.

DeSantis, who has advanced his own Trumpy “America First” agenda with his own combative campaign targeting COVID-19 guidance, transgender healthcare, and classroom instruction on issues related to race and gender, has recently faced widespread scrutiny for flying Venezuelan migrants in Texas to Martha’s Vineyard. Migrants who were in the country seeking asylum, which makes them legal immigrants.

DeSantis mentioned Trump last week while defending his disgusting political stunt, criticizing what he has characterized as the Democrats failure to secure the border.

He said that “sanctuary” cities were an attempt “to virtue signal against Trump and do all this other stuff.” So verbose, that one.

“They’re basically doing it so that they feel good, but they don’t want to actually have to deal with the consequences of the policies that they advocate for all of you,” he said during a campaign event in Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner criticized DeSantis’s plan, suggesting migrants are being used a “political pawns.” Since Kushner is a sociopath who couldn’t care less about migrants, it’s pretty obvious he got his orders to slam DeSantis from Trump.

Calling people fat is something very common for Trump, who is morbidly obese himself. Just last week, Trump fat-shamed Chris Christie on Truth Social after Christie gave an unflattering interview to ABC News’ “This Week” about the Mar-a-Lago raid.
