Trump Whines That Joe Biden’s Home Has Never Been Raided by the FBI

Former President Donald Trump got his Labor Day off to a typical start by doing what he always does when he’s feeling sorry for himself: By griping on Truth Social. He’s still ticked off by the FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago, his home in Palm Beach Florida. He’s even more ticked off because the FBI has never raided the home of President Joe Biden or his son, Hunter Biden, and claimed the U.S. is “broken” because federal agents haven’t done this, The Independent reports.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump had plenty to say about the FBI agents who followed through with a court-authorized search warrant. He complained that agents “riffled” through rooms of his youngest son, Barron, and as we’ve all heard before, his wife, Melania Trump. He’s angry because these agents haven’t done the same things with Joe Biden or his son Hunter.

A Florida federal magistrate signed off on the warrant requested by the FBI on August 5, having found probable cause to believe there was sufficient evidence that several federal crimes surrounding the handling of national defense and obstruction of justice would be found at Trump’s Florida home.

Those suspicions were rewarded after agents recovered more than 15 boxes of evidence from Mar-a-Lago. It was quite a haul; at least 11,000 non-classified records and hundreds of documents marked as classified at the highest levels. As The Independent notes, all records created during Trump’s time as president are, by law, government property, and Trump should have turned them over to the National Archives when his time as president expired.

Trump has offered no explanation as to why he illegally held on to thousands of these documents for so long.

President Biden has never been credibly accused of a federal crime that would result in an FBI search of his home. His son Hunter, who is an attorney and former lobbyist, is currently under investigation by the Department of Justice, which is trying to determine if he violated any federal tax or lobbying laws during his private business dealings, he hasn’t been charged with any wrongdoing and his home has not been searched.

Few things ever stop Trump from baselessly accusing both Bidens, sans, evidence of “proven high crimes, treason, and just plain theft.” The former president has continued to insist evidence of that guilt can be found in the contents of a laptop hard drive owned by the younger Biden. According to The Independent, some news agencies have authenticated emails belonging to Hunter Biden.

“They never Raided or Broke into the house of Hunter Biden, or perhaps even more importantly, the house of Joe Biden — a treasure trove!” Trump wrote, adding that the U.S. “unfair,” “broken,” and a “nation in decline,” because the FBI hasn’t conducted unwarranted searches of the president and his son.

But if the U.S. is “broken,” Trump, his aides, colleagues, family, and supporters are the biggest reasons why. Trouble was brewing before he became the twice-impeached president but he lit the match and started the fire. That fire will continue to burn for a long time and we see the results of this damage now, with the rise of neofascism, extremist groups, and a struggling economy — largely thanks to Trump’s hamfisted treatment of the pandemic.

The economy is slowly recovering under Biden but Trump awakened the sleeping monsters — racism, homophobia, and nationalism and drove a wedge between Democrats and Republicans that seems irreparable because so many in the GOP  keep hanging on this man’s every word.

We are all fortunate that Trump is no longer president but those embers are still burning.
