Marjorie Taylor Greene Posts Tribute to Confederate Soldiers and it Backfires in the Most Amazing Way

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) is never funnier than when she makes a dumb mistake. And if there’s one thing she’s consistent at, it’s making dumb mistakes. Which means she’s unintentionally hilarious 24/7.

So what did she do this time? While trying to defend Confederate monuments, she posted an image of herself standing in front of the Wilder monument in Chickamauga, Georgia, which pays tribute to Colonel John T. Wilder, The Independent [1] reports.

It’s nice that she did this. Even though she’s inadvertently honoring a man who led the Union army.

“Tonight, I stopped at the Wilder Monument in Chickamuaga [sic], GA, which honors the soldiers of the Wilder Brigade,” she posted on Truth Social, Donald Trump’s social media platform. “I will always defend our nation’s history!” The Daily Beast [2] reported.

Too bad Marjorie didn’t take a moment to Google the Wilder Brigade. If she had, she wouldn’t have embarrassed herself again. Because Wilder led a brigade, [3] replete with wild horses from Tennessee’s countryside transformed his brigade into a well-armed infantry, stocked with the seven-shot Spencer repeating rifle, Iron Brigader reports.

Brave members of this brigade rescued the Union Army by staving off the Confederate Army at Alexander’s Bridge, reports [4] the Indiana government’s website. Just two days later, the Lightning Brigade, as it was now known, defeated the charges of the Confederate Army’s division and retaliated against the South.

In the aftermath, Gen. George H. Thomas constructed the rock-like monument now known as the Rock of Chickamauga. It’s this rock that saved the Union Army.

Of course over the past few years, Republicans have been playing the pity party game, opposing attempts to remove monuments dedicated to the Confederacy, prominent slave owners, and White supremacists because they are reminders of this country’s racist history. Greene has been one of those GOPers who has loudly complained about the removal of these monuments.

It’s nice to see the Union Army receiving credit, even if it really only was Marjorie Taylor Greene in the middle of making another dumb mistake.

She excels at this.
