Lindsey Graham Humiliates Himself by Doing Push-Ups to Help Get Herschel Walker Elected

Lindsey Graham wants the whole world to know there’s absolutely nothing, NOTHING! he won’t do to make sure fellow Republican Herschel Walker wins his race for the Georgia Senate. He’s been faithfully supporting Walker and there’s simply nothing he won’t do to prevent incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock from being re-elected. Including, rather bizarrely, doing a set of push-ups while Walker looks on.

The two men appeared on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program, and at one point Hannity said he was impressed with Walker’s ability to do push-ups, Queerty [1] reports. Then the Fox News host suggested Graham should give it a shot.

So of course Graham cooked up a campaign video where he challenges viewers to donate $34 if he and Walker are able to do 34 push-ups each.

In the video, Graham happily drops down and does 35 push-ups, followed by Walker.

But of course, I can’t really write about Graham and Walker without also referring to Walker’s now-infamous [2] “erection” comment. Walker, sitting between Graham and fellow Republican senator Ted Cruz (Texas) during the interview on Tuesday. It went embarrassingly viral.

The interview begins with Walker discussing his run-off election against Warnock when it goes off the rails.

“This election is more than Herschel Walker. This erection is about the people,” Walker says as Graham and Walker shoot glances at each other.

And yes, I checked. It really does seem that Walker said this.

I have to quote Queerty’s David Hudson [5] here because he’s durned funny and notes the senator from South Carolina has other fish to fry.

“Besides supporting Walker’s ‘erection,’ Lindsey Graham, of course, had other business in Georgia yesterday.”

Because yes he did have business Tuesday — sitting down before a Fulton County special grand jury that is currently investigating 2020 election interference. Graham spent months fighting to block a subpoena issued by Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis (D). His arguments, fortunately, went nowhere and in a brief statement to The Hill, [6] Graham’s office confirmed he did indeed testify before the grand jury.

“Today, Senator Graham appeared before the Fulton County Special Grand Jury for just over two hours and answered all questions. The Senator feels he was treated with respect, professionalism and courtesy. Out of respect for the grand jury process he will not comment on the substance of the questions.”

Of course, as you might expect, Twitter had lots of thoughts about Walker’s “erection.”
