McConnell Says Trump Is ‘Highly Unlikely to Ever Be Elected President’, Prepare for Trump to Explode in 3, 2, 1…

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell lambasted Donald Trump’s dinner with white supremacist and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes, saying that anyone meeting with someone this reprehensible “is highly unlikely to ever be elected president of the United States.”

Speaking on Capitol Hill, McConnell, who hasn’t communicated with Trump for almost two years, savaged his one-time political ally after revelations surfaced regarding his now-infamous dinner with Fuentes and Kanye West at Mar-a-Lago, his residence in Palm Beach, Florida, according to Business Insider.

“There is no room in the Republican Party for antisemitism or white supremacy and anyone meeting with people advocating that point of view, in my judgment, is highly unlikely to ever be elected president of the United States,” McConnell said during his weekly press conference.

All I can say here is I hope he’s right.

The Kentucky Republican’s comments come a day after a spate of prominent GOP leaders condemned the dinner, starting with his former Vice President Mike Pence.

“President Trump was wrong to give a white nationalist, an anti-Semite and Holocaust denier a seat at the table,” Pence said during an interview on News Nation. “And I think he should apologize for it.”

Now if we could get Pence to denounce his transphobia and pro-life stance, well hey, that might help us think differently about him. I’m glad he’s denouncing Trump here, but we must not forget what kind of person Pence really is.

And the former president, as expected, tossed his hat in the 2024 presidential election ring, earlier this month so let’s hope McConnell’s sentiments are correct. So he’s trying to do plenty of damage control right now.

“Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, was asking for me for advice concerning some of his difficulties, in particular having o do with his business. We also discussed, to a lesser extent, politics, where I told him he should definitely not run for President…,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, his social media platform. He also said West “expressed no anti-Semitism” at dinner.

But I find it hard to believe that Trump didn’t know that Fuentes is a white nationalist and antisemite. He’s often said things that are vilely racist and anti-Semitic. Far-right Reps. like Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) spoke during a conference held by an organization founded by Fuentes which prompted furor among lawmakers. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy criticized their participation, calling it “unacceptable.”

This is the one and probably the only time I’ll ever hope McConnell is right.
