Trump Refuses to Condemn Kanye West for His Antisemitism and Praises Him for Loving Trump

Former President Donald Trump has managed to turn Kanye West’s hateful, anti-Semitic rhetoric around and make it about himself. During a podcast interview, he praised West for saying “all those things about me on Tucker Carlson” but didn’t bother to condemn the rapper/fashion designer for his crude comments, Business Insider [1] reports.

During the podcast, host Chris Stigall wondered if West was now a “marked man” after “aligning with him,” per Insider. Stigall wanted to know if West was getting a “fair shake.”

While his daughter and her husband are Jewish, this didn’t seem to matter to Trump, who responded that he didn’t know Ye (the new name West prefers to use) that well, he liked him and always got along with him. Typical of Trump, he also said he felt “honored” by what West said about him when he was interviewed by Tucker Carlson.

Because that’s all that matters to Trump. You can say hateful things but if you flatter him, you’re A-okay. For many of us, this man will never live down his “very fine people” [2] comments in the wake of the violent Charlottesville, Virginia “Unite The Right” rally.

In a sense, Trump did more of the same with his comments about West.

“He made statements, rough statements, on Jewish [people],” Trump said. “You’ve heard them and you know them well, and they’re saying that was the reason. So then you ask, ‘Well, would it have been the same thing if he didn’t say all these good things about Trump? You know, you just don’t know.”

West has lost billions [3] in brand sponsorships due to his controversial behavior and anti-Semitic screeds. In the days after he tweeted he was “going death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE, he lost access to his Twitter account. And during an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News program, he voiced a number of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

“I prefer my kids knew Hanukah than Kwanzaa,” he told Carlson. “At least it would come with some financial engineering,” a clear reference to an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that purports that Jews control financial institutions.

In the aftermath, companies like Balenciaga, Adidas, the Gap, CAA, MRC Entertainment, TJ Maxx, and Footlocker have ended partnerships with West over his comments. West even claims [4] that he lost $2 billion in one day. The rapper has made plain his struggles with Bipolar disorder, so perhaps this is the reason for the obnoxious comments, but he’s also made clear his obsession with fascist leader Adolph Hitler, CNN [5] reports.

But Trump shows no concern over such things. Instead, he suggested to Carlson that West was being persecuted for supporting the former president. He also heaped praise on the rapper’s interview with Carlson, saying [6] “He was really nice to me.”

Of course, Trump has also faced recent backlash thanks to his comments [7] on a Truth Social post that many people view as anti-Semitic.

“No president has done more for Israel than I have. Somewhat surprisingly, however, our wonderful Evangelicals (eek!) are far more appreciative of this than the people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the U.S., Trump said in the post. “U.S. Jews have to get their act together and appreciate what they have in Israel — Before it is too late!”

I have no idea what he means by that last part, and the sad part is that Trump doesn’t even realize he’s being anti-Semitic here. He’s too dense to understand that. West, on the other hand, was plainly attacking Jewish people.

If he’s losing billions of dollars, it’s his own doing. He’s earned it.

Here’s a clip of Stigall interviewing Trump.
