Twitter Offices Reek of Bad Body Odor and Employees Must Bring Their Own Toilet Paper to Work

Some people described Twitter as a toilet bowl even before Elon Musk took it over, but now that may be true in the very real sense of the word, Uproxx [1] reports. According to a report published Thursday by The New York Times, [2] Musk allegedly fired the entire janitorial staff at the social media giant’s San Francisco office right before the holidays, and apparently working conditions there have become pretty gross.

Purportedly Musk did this as part of an aggressive cost-cutting move. [3]

Janitors had also gone on strike for better pay, making it much easier for Musk to fire them. Because that’s the kind of person he is.

An employee posted a picture on Twitter of an employee sleeping in the office.

But Musk is also making the situation worse as he reportedly looks to consolidate Twitter’s working spaces and is likely to abandon the San Francisco building where, Uproxx reports, he has already missed [3] rent payments. In the midst of this, he’s pushed employees together on the same floors, and with no janitorial staff around, the situation is turning yucky. There’s not even enough toilet paper to go around.

“That has left the office in disarray. With people packed into more confined spaces, the smell of leftover takeout food and body odor has lingeredon the floors, according to four current and former employees,” the Times reports.”Bathrooms have grown dirty, these people said. and because janitorial services had largely been ended, some workers have resorted to bringing their own rolls of toilet paper from home.”

Ew.

And I have to include this last paragraph from Uproxx, courtesy of contributor Mike Redmond. [4] It’s too durned funny not to.

“While those working conditions downright stink, Twitter employees can take comfort in the fact that Musk managed to help out at least one business this week. The social media CEO came to the rescue of Hooters [5] after a false report that it was closing because millennials don’t like boobs went viral. Sure, Twitter employees are working in a turd swamp, but at least they live in a world where Hooters is going to be just fine. You gotta look for the silver lining.”

I keep hearing people say Musk has turned Twitter into a sh*t show. Who knew that was actually true?
