Election 2020

Trump Has a Telltale Sign He Knows He’s Going To Be Indicted, and It’s Never Been More Obvious

Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner is one of Donald Trump’s toughest critics and he said he believes the former president is really panicky about being indicted, Newsweek reports. Kirschner cited Trump’s recent avalanche of social media posts as evidence for this.

On Sunday during an episode of his podcast Justice Matters Kirschner discussed Trump’s flurry of posts on his platform Truth Social, adding that this is a sign that the ex-president knows an indictment is coming. As special counsel Jack Smith continues to oversee the investigation into Trump’s mishandling of classified documents as well as his involvement in inciting the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the Capitol, Kirschner theorizes that the former president is really sweating it out. As yet, Trump has not been indicted on any charges but the frequency of his posts is a signal to Kirschner that the former president suspects the jig is up.

Kirschner spotted one of Trump’s Truth Social posts where he blasts Smith and complains (doesn’t he always?) that he is being treated unfairly compared to President Joe Biden, who is also now facing scrutiny over allegations of misplaced classified documents.

“How come the Biden ‘Prosecutor’ is a nice guy, very friendly with Democrats and RINOS alike, close to Christopher Wray, & pretty much liked & known by everybody, while my ‘Prosecutor’ is a Radical Left Trump HATING lunatic, whose wife & family get a perfect ’10’ for spewing Trump HATE, and & whose ‘friends’ are the most evil, angry & disgusting Marxists & Communists in & around Government?” Trump complained on Truth Social on Saturday. “They are GRILLING innocent people in Grand Juries for hours, all to ‘get Trump.’ These are Sick Thugs!”

That post, Kirschner said, led him to examine other posts by the former president, and this is how he arrived at the opinion that Trump understands he is powerless to stop any indictment. Then he referenced a battery of posts where the former president lambastes Smith, the FBI, and the Department of Justice (DOJ). Trump uses his typically SHOUTY capital letters whenever he posts about these topics. Kirschner said the former president may think the capital letters make his posts “extra persuasive.”

This doesn’t convince Kirschner, however.

“In fact, it really just signals desperation,” he said.

To his way of thinking, the way Trump writes the posts and the frequency with which he posts them shows he lacks confidence about his innocence.

“He sounds desperate, he sounds scared, he sounds like he knows indictments are coming and there’s nothing he can do to stop them,” Kirschner said.

Trump’s 2024 campaign offered up a snarky retort, in an emailed statement to Newsweek.

“Glenn is a notorious trafficker of wild conspiracy theories and dubious legal analysis and dubious legal analysis,” the statement read. “I would expect nothing more from a clout-chasing MSNBC contributor.”

While Kirschner admitted he wasn’t a behavioral psychologist, after three decades of conducting criminal investigations, he said he’s “pretty good at spotting signs of desperation and consciousness of guilt when I see them.”

“Donald Trump is full of it—desperation and consciousness of guilt,” he said.

He noted that while Trump’s posts are receiving a few thousand interactions and reposts, this is far less than the interactions he received on Twitter before he was banned (Elon Musk has since restored his account, something that Trump has ignored.)

“In a very real sense, Donald Trump is both figuratively and literally screaming into the void,” Kirschner said. “I suggest that what we can glean from these unhinged desperate posts of Donald Trump is that he knows indictments are coming, and he knows he is powerless to stop them.”

I hope this is true. I imagine by now that Smith has everything he needs to proceed, and the sooner the better.

I’ve included Kirschner’s commentary in the clip below.
