WOW, this is a huge loss for Donald Trump. Ever since Trump was the candidate in 2016, he has had some absolutely devoted supporters. None were more devoted than Bill Mitchell. You might not remember the name Bill Mitchell off the top of your head. Once he was booted from Twitter, he stopped getting as much press for his tweets, which always fawned over Trump in the most ridiculous and sycophantic ways.

But you’ll probably remember Mitchell if you see his photo, with that smooth forehead you could ski across:

He was also famous for his ridiculously pro-Trump tweets until he got booted from Twitter for spreading misinformation about Covid.

Well, it appears that Mitchell is done with Trump, and is switching his allegiances to Ron DeSantis.

Mitchell, who is back on Twitter (thanks Elon) tweeted about his change of heart.

“I cannot in good conscience support a man who would tell lies about a great American to defend his own enormous ego,” he wrote Monday as he hopped off the Trump Train. “I will work with every ounce of my being to help Governor DeSantis win the nomination and the presidency.”

The tweet in of itself is hysterical. Trump lies more than anyone on this planet and Mitchell is just figuring it out now?

Mitchell used to cite his early support for Trump as evidence of his political clairvoyance.

“In 2016, I was bold and went with the winner early. I’m doing the same thing now,” he continued. “I was hopeful for a Trump/DeSantis ticket but now that that seems unlikely, I believe DeSantis is the only one who can win the general election – and win we must.”

The tweetstorm comes amid questions about Trump’s continued hold on the devoted Republican base, as DeSantis continues to grab on to Trump’s populist support and many in the GOP blame the former president for a disappointing midterm election cycle.

Mitchell is also known for hosting the YouTube show “YourVoice America,” where he used to interview other Trump sycophants.

Former Trump aide Sebastian Gorka, a major MAGA Twitter presence in his own right with over 1 million followers, ridiculed Mitchell for claiming to have advised the ex-president’s 2024 campaign against going negative on DeSantis.

“And I’m sure Mar a Lago took Billy’s call,” Gorka tweeted with a stream of laugh-cry emojis.

But many were shocked that Mitchell actually dumped Trump for DeSantis, since he was such a strong supporter:

Trump even lost Bill Mitchell. And people still have the nerve to annoy me about being one of the first to report that Trump is a vaccine salesman who hired pharmacy lobbyists to crush America & even took 1 million for Pfizer for his inauguration.

Polls have shown DeSantis competitive with Trump in head-to-head matchups, though Trump does better with a crowded field like we saw in 2016.
