Alex Jones Has Found a Way to Not Pay the Sandy Hook Parents the Hundreds of Millions He Owes Them

It looks like Infowars founder Alex Jones is moving his money to friends and family members in an effort to avoid paying out nearly $1.5 billion to the families of the victims of the horrific Sandy Hook elementary school massacre in December of 2012, according to a new report.

I’m describing this as a massacre because that’s what it was. In a mere matter of minutes, 20 children and six adults were killed, never having the slightest chance to escape.

And for years, Jones claimed on his Infowars platform that the mass shooting was a hoax staged by the government to relieve Americans of their guns. Tell that to grieving parents who lost a child in this shooting. He kept on doing this and it was absolutely disgusting. And that is why, as the Guardian reports, Jones was ordered to pay the sizable damages.

The New York Times has been investigating Jones’s financial and legal documents and found that the far-right broadcaster has been transferring assets worth millions of dollars, making the funds inaccessible to creditors as lawsuits from grieving families and court sanctions piled up over the years.

He’s conducted sneaky maneuvers to avoid paying legal damages. Infowars’ parent company, Free Speech Systems, and Jones himself, both declared bankruptcy last year.

“I’m officially out of money, personally,” Jones said during a December Infowars broadcast. It’s all going to be filed. It’s all going to be public. And you will see that Alex Jones has almost no cash,” The Associated Press reports Jones said.

Which is kind of funny when you consider that during the investigation, the Times found that Jones blew $80,000 on a private jet, security, and a villa during his time in Connecticut as he testified last year at trial. It also looks like he was squirreling away his money to various entities.

The Times found that in October 2021, Jones made a business agreement with Auriam Services, a month-old company founded by Jones ally and lifestyle blogger Anthony Gucciardi. The report states Auriam Services was to serve as a credit card processing intermediary.

Convenient, yes?

And that’s not all. The Times also found that in February 2022, Jones transferred his posh $3 million estate in Austin, Texas, to his wife, Erika Wulff Jones. And this place doesn’t lack much. It spans more than 5,400 square feet, boasts four bedrooms and five bathrooms, and also comes with a pool and a spa.

The investigation also found Jones had signed a contract in July with Blue Ascension, which is, rather conveniently, a new company founded a few months prior by Patrick Riley, Jones’ former personal trainer and assistant. In that same month, Free Speech Systems declared bankruptcy.

Families of the victims responded by filing a lawsuit that Jones was committing fraud by moving his money away from creditors, even going so far as to transfer $11,000 per day to $11,000 a week and “up to 80 percent of his [diet] supplement sales” to PQPR, a company that Jones and his parents control, the Times reports.

The newspaper also investigated a personal balance sheet Jones submitted to a Texas bankruptcy court in January. That sheet indicated Jones had only about $5.6 million in assets.

But a financial statement released by Jones’ lawyers, appears to contradict this. The statement was prefaced by five pages of disclaimers saying Jones isn’t completely aware of where he has bank accounts and indicating that Jones has considerably more money.

And according to the documents reviewed by the Times, Jones’s property was revealed to be worth $10 million in total. The documents also indicated he has a monthly income of $129,000, with $104,000 coming from undisclosed sources.

In February Jones remained defiantly adamant that he’ll maintain his platform and company, at one point saying on his podcast, “If anybody thinks they’re shutting me down, they’re mistaken.”

The sad fact is that even though Sandy Hook families were awarded close to $1.5 billion in legal damages they aren’t sure that they will be paid the full amount.

“There’s a chance we’re going to be forced into a situation where we’re going to be checking to see how Infowars is doing every month to figure out if our clients are getting paid or not,” Mark Bankston, an attorney for one of the families told the newspaper.

Free Speech Systems announced earlier this month a proposed bankruptcy plan that would pay Jones an annual salary of $520,000 a year, leaving $ 7 million to $10 million to creditors annually, including the families of the victims.

At that rate, it will take years to pay the families the $1.5 billion they deserve. It’s impossible to put a price on grief, but that money will still make life easier, for these families who have lost so much.

Alex Jones is a disgusting human being. I’m sure he’s aware of the pain he’s inflicted on these people but he wants to keep Infowars going so he can spread more lies and misinformation. Who will he hurt next?
