Eric Trump Threatened With Charges Over Nasty, Now-Deleted Tweet About E. Jean Carroll

Like father, like son, I guess. Eric Trump has landed in hot water for posting an incendiary post to social about E. Jean Carroll’s civil rape suit against his father, Donald Trump. He’s been warned that if he keeps this up, he could be hit with charges, The Independent reports.

The younger Trump took to Twitter to add his thoughts as the trial plays out in a Manhattan courtroom, where Carroll a noted author, is suing Donald Trump for rape and defamation.

In his post, Eric Trump took to Twitter to complain that Carroll’s trial was being funded by LinkedIn cofounder and Democratic donor Reid Hoffman “out of pure hatred, spite, or fear of a formidable candidate.”

He called Hoffman’s involvement “an embarrassment to our country, should be illegal and tells you everything you need to know about the case in hand….”

I guess he never reads anything anyone writes about him.

At any rate, Carroll’s attorney saw fit to bring Eric’s tweet to the judge’s attention, after the judge had already warned Donald Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina about his client complaining about the case online.

Judge Lewis Kaplan had already ruled that Hoffman’s financing of Carroll’s case couldn’t be used as evidence during the trial.

And he was definitely not happy about Eric’s tweet, telling Tacopina that such comments need to stop — or both Trumps could wind up in trouble.

“I said something this morning about your client perhaps now sailing in harm’s way, conceivably with his son, if what I just heard is true,” the judge said.

“If I were in your shoes, I’d be having a conversation with your client,” Kaplan said, and added later that “there are some relevant United States statutes here and somebody on your side ought to be thinking about them.”

Eric or someone in his circle deleted the tweet right quick, it seems. But it has been saved for posterity by numerous social media users, who took screenshots.

The warning for Eric Trump came after Kaplan had already warned his father over his remarks on Truth Social Wednesday morning. The former president began complaining on his social media platform an hour or so before the testimony began. He questioned how anyone could believe he — “being very well known, to put it mildly!” could have committed rape.

“She didn’t scream?” Trump wrote. “There are no witnesses? Nobody saw this?”

The former president’s posts led the judge to warn Trump’s attorneys, outside the jury’s presence, that Trump seemed to be “endeavoring, certainly, to speak to his quote-unquote public” and to the jury about issues that have “no business being spoken about.”

Kaplan further warned that the ex-president could be “tampering with a new source of liability” if he kept on. He called Trump’s post that described the case as a “made-up scam” a “public statement stating that, on the face of it, seems entirely inappropriate.”

Well, that would be Trump. And apparently, Eric is the same way. Father and son are both bullies. Undoubtedly both were trying to incite dear old Dad’s supporters, so I’m glad this judge is on his game.
