Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, long under scrutiny for corruption, seemed as though he might finally get his comeuppance. He was charged with both corruption and bribery in 16 counts, but on Saturday, the Texas Senate acquitted him of all charges.

Now former President Donald Trump, no stranger to his own party keeping him from being impeached no matter the evidence, is taking credit for Paxton emerging unscathed.

During the trial, the Texas Tribune reported that:

“The dramatic votes capped a two-week trial where a parade of witnesses, including former senior officials under Paxton, testified that the attorney general had repeatedly abused his office by helping his friend, struggling Austin real estate investor Nate Paul, investigate and harass his enemies, delay foreclosure sales of his properties and obtain confidential records on the police investigating him. In return, House impeachment managers said Paul paid to renovate Paxton’s Austin home and helped him carry out ­and cover up an extramarital affair with a former Senate aide.”

Pretty serious charges. However, Trump swooped in to save the day, and he was quite humble about it, too!

“Yes, it is true that my intervention through TRUTH SOCIAL saved Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton from going down at the hands of Democrats and some Republicans, headed by PAUL RINO (Ryan), Karl Rove, and others, almost all of whom came back to reason when confronted with the facts. Ken has been a great A.G., and now he can go back to work for the wonderful people of Texas. It was my honor to have helped correct this injustice!”

It’s not far-fetched to think that Trump actually believes this nonsense. He likely will call Paxton, expecting a thank you.

Paxton had been suspended from his position as Attorney General during the process. After the acquittal, he was reinstated immediately. Shortly after the trial, Trump sent out another message, saying “Congratulations to Attorney General Ken Paxton on a great and historic Texas sized VICTORY.”

“I want to thank the great Lt. Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, who served as Judge in the Ken Paxton Trial, and the Republican State Senators, for showing great Professionalism and Fairness.”

Having a partisan official serve as judge in a case against a personal friend doesn’t seem like professionalism or fairness to us, but what do we know? We’ve only seen a couple of impeachment trials in the last few years.

Then of course Trump had to throw in a “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Then Trump moved on to Biden demanded that the Republican Party do the impossible and remove Biden from office using the 25th Amendment on Monday.

In a three-post rant largely focused on a deal struck between the Biden administration and Iran that will see five Americans exchanged for 5 Iranians and unfreeze $6 billion in Iranian assets. And again, we didn’t GIVE $6 billion to Iran. It was their money. And Trump actually spelled the word “buckle” as “buckel”. And he wants the 25th used on Biden!

“This absolutely ridiculous 6 Billion Dollar Hostage Deal with Iran has set a terrible PRECEDENT for the future. Buckel up, you are going to see some terrible things start to happen. The 3 years ago highly respected USA has become a laughingstock all over the WORLD. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. VOTE TRUMP!!!”

Then Trump continued, “I brought 58 HOSTAGES home from many different countries, including North Korea, and I never paid anything. They all understood they MUST LET THESE PEOPLE COME HOME! Toward the end, it got so that countries didn’t even start the conversation asking for money, because they knew they would not get it. Once you pay, you always pay, & MANY MORE HOSTAGES WILL BE TAKEN. Our grossly incompetent “leader,” Crooked Joe Biden, gave 6 BILLION DOLLARS for 5 people. Iran gave ZERO for 5. He’s Dumb as a ROCK!”

And finally, “After seeing what has happened to our beautiful USA in such a short period of time, including Afghanistan, Self Imposed Inflation, Energy Independence, the Horrors of the Open Border, NO VOTER I.D., & now, 6 Billion Dollars for 5 Hostages from Iran, I ASK, WHY HASN’T THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BEGUN THE PROCESS OF INVOKING THE 25th AMENDMENT AGAINST THE WORST & MOST INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, CROOKED JOE BIDEN? With these facts, they would have done it to us long ago!”

The man is INSANE. It seems he’s getting extra scared of Biden for some reason. And he can’t attack him on the age issue, since Trump is up there as well. Regardless, one thing is for sure, Trump cannot get anywhere close to the White House again. He just can’t. We all know if he finds a way to win, he will never leave.
