Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ Approval Rating is Falling Because the Good People of Arkansas Have Had Enough

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has had a LOT of scandals in her short time in office. Some financial, some legal, some concerning the stripping away of rights.

A poll released on Monday shows that her popular support in her own state — which her father was once governor of as well — is steadily decreasing.

Morning Consult, a polling company, regularly registers the approval ratings of governors, among a host of other topics and personalities. Their April report shows that Sanders has slipped by a full five percentage points in approval since their last measure, and her disapproval rating has increased by eight points.

The pollsters noted that her approval rating is down TWELVE points among Republicans, in a reliably Republican state. It’s still high of course — she’s signed laws that restrict all the things that Republicans want to restrict — but to lose that much ground among those that elected you is a pretty bad sign.

It’s funny, how Democrats seem to want to make laws that expand rights, while Republicans make laws that restrict them. So much for the party of limited government.

Arkansas is a hard state to get a steady read on. They gave us Mike Huckabee and Sarah Sanders, but they also gave us Bill Clinton, the president who presided over the longest peacetime expansion of the economy in American history.

So the fact that she still has ANY approval rating left among Democrats in the 2,500+ person poll is unsurprising. What is surprising is how much it’s gone down among Republicans.

It totally indicates that #Lecterngate and her harsh appraisal of anything outside the conservative sphere are beginning to wear on even her more reliable voters.

It means that finally, Sarah’s garbage is beginning to catch up with her

We waited through her years as Press Secretary. We watched as even the comedian who tore her apart was eviscerated by the Republican and conservative (meaning, including libertarians) communities was lambasted by bad press and she came out the other side relatively unscathed.

But once she got kicked out of the Red Hen Restaurant, it was the beginning of a decline.

Even the conservatives who afterward elected her governor took a little bit of notice on that. Now, they’re letting their feelings be known, and telling pollsters that they don’t like her anymore.
