Republicans Post Sickening and Misleading Clip Attacking Biden At D-Day Memorial — Here’s What Really Happened
Some Republicans love to mix and match. Especially when it comes to clips of President Joe Biden, where they can play the deceptive editing game to make him look bad. This time they got creative when he commemorated D-Day with the last surviving veterans of the attack. The real video tells a completely different story.
But that’s Republicans for you. Why tell the actual truth when you can spin a good yarn?
Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and others spoke during an event commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France Mediaite reports. The event was attended by about 200 surviving veterans of the invasion, the one that brought about the beginning of the end of Adolf Hitler’s Axis powers.
But using a little creative editing, the Republican Party’s official RNC Research X/Twitter account portrayed the occasion by posting a short clip depicting Biden beginning to sit down, with the caption “Awkward” followed by a cringe emoji:

So far the clip has been viewed more than 4 million times and has been shared by GOPers who try to suggest Biden was “out of it” or trying to “sit in an imaginary chair.”
That’s what Republicans do. It’s as if they’re betting on each other to see how low they can stoop.
The actual, authentic video of the event shows the true story — in the clip, mere milliseconds later, Biden sat in a real and actual chair after pausing to wait for Secretary Austin’s introduction to be wrapped up.
Following the so-called chair incident, Secretary Austin delivered a moving speech about the D-Day veterans who sacrificed so much and “saved the world” to continue to achieve the “final victory over Hitler” to stop fascism in its tracks.
The video showcased of President Biden "Trying to sit on a chair that doesn't exist" was intentionally cut the second before he does sit in the chair right behind him.

Then it was Biden’s turn, and this was no chair-fumbling fool as the Republicans would so love us to think. In a fiery speech about this historic day, he called on Americans to remember what tyranny could have cost us.
“(T)he autocrats of the world are watching closely to see what happens in Ukraine, to see if we let this illegal aggression go unchecked. We cannot let that happen! To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators is simply unthinkable! Were we to do that. It means we be forgetting what happened here on these hallowed beaches.”
Make no mistake. We will not bow down. We will not forget.”
And he’s right. This is not something we can afford to forget, especially as Donald Trump and his Republican allies are trying to usher in a new form of fascism. We need to stop them every single chance we get.
It’s not a pretty picture, and this may well turn into a long haul again, but it’s one that’s worth it.
