‘The Super Friends are Assembling’: House Dem Says Powerful Group of Democrats Gathering to Pressure Joe to Drop Out

If this happens, we might see someone else entirely facing off against Trump in November.

According to Politico, an unnamed House Democrat has told them that there is a group of powerful Democrats preparing to have somewhat of an intervention with President Biden about continuing in the race.

Frankly, after his disastrous debate performance and his press conference the other night, I’d be surprised if this didn’t happen.

I’m not saying that Joe hasn’t gotten a lot done. I’m not saying that he’s not doing things now. He rescued Trump’s dismal economy AND jobs numbers. He made historic infrastructure investments in all 50 states, in DC, our territories, and even tribal nations. He expanded internet access nationwide.

But what started as a backlash over his initial stance between Israel and Palestine (which hasn’t changed much) has turned into a concern about his ability to keep up this level of work for another four years.

As we said, the debate was an unmitigated disaster. But a random teenager in my tiny town in Central Washington state — a Republican stronghold in an otherwise blue state — could have beaten Donald Trump in a debate.

That was nearly inexcusable. And excuses were definitely made.

Statements were contradicted, with Biden’s press secretary saying he had not been seen by doctors, and Joe saying the very next day that he’d just had a checkup.

“The super friends are assembling. There’s a group of people who are going to go make their case to whomever they can get to at the White House that he needs to step aside and we’re going to get our asses kicked if he doesn’t,” the unnamed Representative told the outlet.

And we are talking Justice League-style super friends.

The rumor includes Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, President Pro Tempore Patty Murray, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC).

You will, of course, remember that Clyburn was the one that turned the tide in the 2020 primary toward Biden in the first place.

That would give his input on such a team even more gravitas.

There is significant reason to believe that this intervention is going to take place. Just this week, Nancy Pelosi practically pretended she hadn’t been paying attention when Joe insisted he was staying in the race, with her saying on Wednesday “It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We’re all encouraging him to make that decision. Because time is running short.”

In fact, over at The Atlantic, they’re reporting that Team Trump is “all but praying Joe Biden doesn’t drop out,” since they think their odds are so good against him this November.

After conceding during a mandatory campaign meeting that they’ve had a few “bad f*cking weeks,” Biden campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon told her staff that “there’s no bottom falling out yet,” and that there was still a path to victory.

Let’s see what the super friends think.
