Ana Navarro has never been known for being overly demure in her commentary on Donald Trump. Despite being a lifelong Republican, she was almost immediately branded a “Never Trumper” along with a few other prominent members of the GOP.
Bluntly put, she has no reason to defend Trump, because she puts country before party, not the other way around.
So when Republicans made it their strategy to attack Kamala Harris during this campaign for what they’re trying to frame as an indiscreet sexual past, Navarro was rightly offended.
Not only is who Kamala dated irrelevant to the campaign, it’s not like she’s been caught on tape bragging about sexual assault like Trump has. It’s not like she’s an adjudicated rapist, like Trump is. It’s not like she’s appeared nude in magazines, like Republicans seem to have no problem with when it comes to the former First Lady, Melania.
Yep, she went there.
Navarro posted on her Instagram [1] (NSFW) on Thursday in order to point out the GOP’s lack of a conscience when it comes to Harris.
Accompanying the phrase “You wanna go low? … I’ll happily go 20,000 leagues under the sea,” Navarro posted a picture of Melania nude in British GQ from the year 2000. She also put in a pic of both Trumps with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell and her then-partner Jeffrey Epstein, having a grand old time.
All of this is to counter the persistent rumor that Harris “slept her way to the top.” That Republican talking point refers to the fact that Harris was in a relationship with former politician Willie Brown, married at the time, who later appointed Harris to two different positions that ostensibly launched her career.
The problem with their claim is that Brown had been separated from his wife for 13 years before he ever dated Kamala, and her first appointment from Brown came 8 years after he and Kamala’s relationship ended. That was to the relatively obscure California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, after which he later appointed her to another blockbuster role on the Medical Assistance Commission.
Said Navarro of the hypocrisy:
“Some Republicans are out there on TV and social media making vile sexual remarks about Kamala Harris and wanting to make her dating history an issue. This country deserves a debate on real issues, affecting us all. But you want to make this an issue? Bring it on. I’ve never seen naked pics of @kamalaharris or her spouse. Kamala never partied with sexual predators.”
Oh, wait. You want a debate? Trump’s already backed out of debating Kamala.
Meanwhile, Trump’s minions have been absolutely sickening toward her, not just sexually, but in a racist way as well. As one right-winger called her “the original Hawk Tuah Girl, [2]” Republican Congressmen have been claiming she was a “DEI hire” — Diversity, Equity, Inclusion — as Vice President, meaning she was only picked because she was a nonwhite female.
Navarro is absolutely right here. It is staggering to watch Republicans fall all over themselves trying to paint a legitimate relationship as something seedy, when the are literally naked pictures that any CHILD in the world could easily Google of Trump’s wife, and Trump himself just got done being convicted on 34 felony counts related to covering up affairs with women from the adult industry while naked-pics-girl was pregnant with his baby.
It’s nice to see that some Republicans have perspective and decency.
