I almost envy Marjorie Taylor Greene. She can get up on stage and make a complete a$$ out of herself and it’s news for a couple of days until she does something even more ridiculous. If I did that I’d find myself in a padded cell. This time her nonsensery caught the attention of The Daily Show host Jon Stewart, who also didn’t fail to notice that “unity” was the theme at the Republican National Convention Tuesday night. And he also highlighted the absolute absurdity of the situation, according to BoingBoing. [1]
“One particularly fiery member of Congress struggled mightily as her body rejected the unity theme, as though it were transplanted like a monkey heart.”
Stewart pointed out that the bats in her belfry Georgia representative ended every sentence with a bizarre, low-pitched “giggle” (sort of).
“Sh–She knows she’s making that noise, right?” a clearly incredulous Stewart asked after playing clips of Marge’s bizarre delivery.
“Or is that the noise when the interior monologue is going, ‘Marjorie, there’s gonna be plenty of time to talk about Satanic Democrats, just keep it in, Marjorie, just… “Stewart did his best to imitate Greene’s bizarre sound but that mountain proved too high, even for the veteran comedian.
But that’s not the only thing noticeable about Greene’s speech. That grin at every turn. It looked painful, it was so fake. How can anyone even stretch their mouth that wide?
Wow.
These are dire times, politically. I’m glad we have someone like Stewart, who can masterfully highlight just how depressing this all is by making it hilarious. But all of this shows on his face. Every line, every wrinkle etched by time in a world where craziness is the new normal.
He also lampooned popular person at the moment, Amber Rose, who actually said, “Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, white, gay or straight, it’s all love.”
“It’s all love! It’s love!'” the Daily Show host said with lacerating cynism. “You just better hope all that love doesn’t lead to an ectopic pregnancy, because then, eh—…” .
The audience roared with appreciative laughter.
I’m glad Stewart has returned to us after all these years. Because we really do need a good laugh.
Here’s the hilarious clip below.
