A new video of Donald Trump at a campaign stop in Detroit is making the rounds, and not in a good way.
The former president was, as usual, blathering on about his vastly superior intellect, and he accidentally stepped in a giant pile of people with examples of exactly the opposite coming from him.
Standing at the podium, Trump picked the most awkward possible phrasing to tout the fact that he looks for “good words.” What words is he talking about here? Are they also self-referential?
Australopithecus? Fatuousness? Nonsensicality?
“These people are just so destructive, so — I always look for good words, highly sophisticated, and I’m highly educated. I like sophisticated words,” he said on Monday. “There’s only one word I get — that’s stupid. Stupid people.”
Is he talking about that time he called Kamala Harris the president? Maybe that time when he referred to the fictional nation of Nambia. People say that Trump is out of shape, but the wisdom that’s been chasing him his entire life has never seemed to catch up.
Online commenters were quick to point out the holes in his assertion. “He was the best speller ever — greatest speller in his class. I mean all his teachers know this,” wrote one observer. Another who clearly watches both the news and social media asked “Did you see his rant last night on Truth Social about ABC and the debate? He couldn’t even figure out when to use a question mark and a period in a sentence. Yet he thinks he’s a smart guy.”
Indeed, Trump made a meme of himself when he declared he was a very stable genius a long time ago.
He just can’t seem to set this issue down, though. I’m torn between thinking he actually believes he’s smart and thinking that he may actually be in on the joke. That joke being him, of course.
Although MeidasTouch.com editor Ron Filipkowski correctly observed that “Trump’s total vocabulary is about 750 words. If that. On the extremely rare occasions where they include a 4-syllable word in a rally speech (the writers know their audience well) he struggles to read it or pronounce it correctly,” he did forget that on THIS rare occasion, Trump managed to wrangle out a five-syllable word: Sophisticated.
Watch the hilarity for yourself:
Donald Trump: “I always look for good words, highly sophisticated, and I’m highly educated. I like sophisticated words.”

Take a look at what the people on Twitter thought:
He's "highly educated" but has for a few years refused to submit a copy of his school GPA, threatening to sue instead. No different than his tax returns. This clown is a fake, is classless, and is a disgrace.

WTF.. No one, and I mean no one says dumb shit like this! How the hell does anyone take him seriously. Like for real, this is the guy the Republicans want to run our country? Holy shit!

Trump is not educated. His family paid schools off to pass him. Just listen to him.

I guess for the MAGAs he is clearly! My dog thinks as well I am highly sophisticated compared to him. I hope it is not a disgrace to compare my dog to MAGAs. I bet my dog has more morals than them.

OMFG… I can’t believe he said that out loud… he’s a total clown! Can you imagine another 4 years of this bumbling idiot? And what about the world? They will laugh us into oblivion.

He can't say three syllable words because he's too stupid he was never taught or he can't learn. He doesn't know how to say three syllable. Words is really hard for him. That's why you can't speak.

This isn't hard, listen to a Trump rally for 15 minutes then, Kamala Harris's for 15 minutes. Listen to the vocabulary, the subjects, plans and policy. Trump babbles, incoherently about the past, focusing entirely on himself. Harris is articulate focusing on hope and the future.
