I guess it stands to reason that Donald Trump would hire hateful people to work on his campaign. There’s never been a candidate with more hate in his heart than Trump himself.
But does he really have to double that up by hiring a hateful person who is also indicted for a crime? Well, yeah, if the crime is trying to steal an election on his behalf.
Meshawn Maddock was the co-chair of the Michigan GOP when she pleaded not guilty to charges related to when she posed as a fake elector for Trump’s attempted coup in 2020. And apparently her depravity doesn’t end there.
Last week, after a fellow political figure in Michigan who is openly gay posted a picture from the Democratic National Convention, she had a little bully fun with it. Jason Morgan, Michigan’s Democratic Party vice chair (and a state representative) posted a photo with the caption “Michigan congressional delegation in the house!!”
He was especially proud of how well the convention went, as all Democrats should have been.
But that’s not the Pride that Maddock took issue with. She retweeted his picture, re-captioning it “F*gs and Hags.”
That would already be unacceptable speech for anyone who isn’t a total piece of garbage. But Maddock is a public figure. It is incumbent on her to set a good example. This is not a good example.
Morgan did not take it lying down. When he saw her tweet, he sent out another tweet thread of his own:
Former @MIGOP Chair and advisor to Trump’s 2024 campaign, just called me a f*g.
As a proud gay man who loves his husband, these hateful taunts don’t undermine my Pride, but to countless LGBTQ young people across the USA, hateful rhetoric can lead to depression and suicide.
On behalf of those LGBTQ Kids, I have one message for bullies like Meshawn & Donald Trump: #WereNotGoingBack to an America where hate and division win.
The choice is clear: We Choose Freedom from Hate. We choose @KamalaHarris, for the people.
Let’s stand up to bullies!
Contribute to keep me and other LGBTQ leaders in office, no matter how triggered Meshawn gets…
Btw, @MeshawnMaddock, aren’t you due back in court (or jail) for trying to steal an election?
Ouch. That’s what she gets for sounding like a boy in middle school. And that’s what you’ll get (and more) if you vote for the kind of people that Morgan is talking about here.
