Every time Sarah Huckabee Sanders opens her mouth, something interesting and new comes out. I do not, of course, mean that in a good way. She’s been enjoying the various phases of her life as a professional grade liar, from pretending her brother didn’t murder a dog at Boy Scout camp one year, to being Trump’s loudest mouthpiece during his time in the Oval Office.
Now that she’s governor, she keeps finding that when she lies, people actually look at HER instead of the person she’s lying about.
When she had Trump to lie for, people rarely considered the fact that she was the one delivering the falsehoods and misdirection. They blamed Trump for all the deception, since he was so notorious for it.
Imagine being the first president to merit a major newspaper keeping a running tally of how many lies you’ve told.
But now Sarah doesn’t have Trump to point at, and she can’t just say “I’d direct you to for that answer.” People approach her now for HER opinion on things, and that’s where it always seems to go wrong for her.
The latest story is about the thrashing she’s been taking on social media after criticizing Kamala Harris for doing something that literally everyone who runs for president has done.
After it was announced that Harris would be doing her first broadcast interview since Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her, Republicans have been desperate to paint her as having been a coward for not doing one earlier.
That’s not surprising; They have nothing real to criticize her or her running mate for, so they have to throw a tantrum [1] about anything they can think of [2], even if it’s idiotic.
In an interview with Fox and Friends, Sarah joined the rest of the Republicans already whining about the Harris sit-down. “It’s clear that her own team and her own party think she needs a babysitter,” Sanders said. “And that’s why they’re putting her vice presidential nominee on the stage with her, so that he can step in and answer questions if things go like the clips we just saw, like she has done in previous interviews.”
But Sarah could have done just the tiniest bit of research before she opened her mouth again. First, she tweeted this:
Team Harris thinks Kamala needs a new babysitter.
I think America needs a new President. pic.twitter.com/MPbccyyGXA [3]

Aside from the fact that Kamala is the only person running for president who would be “new,” it was pretty standard fare for The Huckster.
Then she got a little lesson from the rest of the internet, and it was not pretty (but it was hilarious):

For the record, that’s a small montage of all the people who sat for multi-person interviews, including her boss and his running mate Mike Pence, Bush and Cheney, Clinton and Gore, Michelle Obama and Jill Biden (for good measure), Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, and Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
All of them doing exactly the same thing that she tried to mock Kamala for doing.
More people posted pictures of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan being interviewed together, and even Trump and his CURRENT RUNNING MATE JD Vance in a joint appearance.
Sarah never backed down in her assessment, inferring that it would be softball for Kamala anyway. “This isn’t even a tough interview. This is on CNN,” Sanders said. CNN, of course, took issue with that, saying that the woman hosting Harris and Walz is not a softball interviewer.
“Dana Bash is a well-respected veteran journalist who has covered politics and politicians in Washington for over three decades. She has extensive experience interviewing major political figures and is highly qualified to interview both Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. We look forward to their conversation.”
The rest of us are looking forward to it, too. Honestly, we’ve been dying to hear from both of them, just because it will be such a nice break from the constant stream of nonsense coming out of the Trump/Vance camp.
But Sarah seems to need to have her say, no matter the topic. Maybe she does it to distract people from the numerous scandals she’s faced in Arkansas, where she got elected purely because her dad used to be the governor of the state as well.
But I think one tweeter summed up the whole thing nicely with this response to Sarah’s “babysitter” tweet:
I think Arkansas needs a new governor.
