After the news broke of the “cheating” scandal between Robert F. Kennedy Junior and reporter Olivia Nuzzi, all hell broke loose in the Kennedy camp. As we previously reported, the one-time staunch liberal turned Trump-endorsing conspiracy theorist hired Jeff Bezos’ “fixer” to help him with his little problem.

In the end, RFK Jr. decided the best course of action would be to threaten Ms. Nuzzi with legal action over the affair, though she never even implicated him directly in her confession to her editors at New York Magazine that ended up getting her suspended.

But being as Kennedy was at one time a presidential candidate who then dropped out and endorsed Trump, the former president thought it best to add him to his personal circle of friends and advisors. There could be a spot in the Cabinet for the political scion, if Trump should win in November.

That means, of course, that Trump now feels the need to weigh in on everything RFK Jr. is involved in — including Nuzzi.

A source close to the two men said that Trump actually contacted Kennedy about the rumors, and Kennedy denied everything, saying that “He hardly knows her. He said he met her one time.”

Trump has always had it out for Olivia Nuzzi, even once calling her unattractive and dumb.

Apparently Trump came very close to issuing a public statement about it all, including “condolences” to Nuzzi’s former fiancée Ryan Lizza, who called off their engagement when the news broke.

For once, Trump held his tongue.

When New York Magazine put the reporter on leave, she had actually just recently conducted an interview with Trump, which was surprising (that he’d grant her one) given their spotty history.

Neither Nuzzi nor her employer ever named Kennedy as the one she had a “personal relationship” with, major media outlets CNN and the New York Times reported that the subject was Kennedy.

RFK Jr. himself is still being cagey about the entire thing. In an interview with Fox News, when asked about it, Kennedy said “I never comment on those kind of stories.” But reports had the philandering oddball bragging about it behind wife Cheryl Hines’ back.

I just feel bad for RFK Jr’s wife at this point. Unfortunately, as a woman who was allegedly one of his 43 mistresses while he was married to his last wife, maybe the Curb Your Enthusiasm star could have seen the cheating coming.
