It’s always ironic when you see former president Donald Trump trying to make it seem like someone else is guilty of a thing that he did. That’s obviously called projecting, and almost no one is better at it than him.

If Trump says someone is going to raise your taxes, you can bet that he already has. If Trump says someone isn’t nice to women, it takes mere seconds to find a clip of him being an absolute jerk right to a woman’s face.

But the two examples we see the most of Trump projecting are when he says someone else doesn’t respect the military, or when he claims someone else is lying. If he says either of these things, he’s trying to cover for his own behavior.

And unfortunately, we often see those things come up in tandem.

Case in point, the recent incident at Arlington National Cemetery. It is widely regarded as the most sacred place in America for the US military, and Trump just publicly used it for his own personal gain.

In fact, that much is KNOWN by everyone. Even his supporters can’t deny that he was photographed grinning and giving a thumbs-up while standing over a dead soldier’s grave.

But the details eventually all came out, and the whole thing turned into a PR disaster for Donald. He immediately claimed he had permission to be in the no-cameras-allowed section of the cemetery, which is something he couldn’t have had. Even if the family he posed for the picture with said it was okay, (a) that’s not their permission to give, and (b) there are other graves there he was photographed with.

But more details emerged over time: He shot a video there, too. He KNEW that it was against the cemetery’s rules to shoot photos and video there. His campaign staff assaulted a woman in their effort to get the shot.

Wait, what?

That’s right, two senior members of Trump’s campaign staff shoved a female ANC employee out of their path in order to take not just pictures but video as well, all in an area they had been told beforehand was off limits.

Now, that’s not the Kamala Harris campaign claiming that’s what happened. That’s the independently-verified official version of events from the Arlington National Cemetery staff. And yet, this morning on Truth Social, Trump told a different story:

“There was no conflict or “fighting” at Arlington National Cemetery last week. It was a made up story by Comrade Kamala and her misinformation squad. She made it all up to make up for the fact that she and Sleepy Joe have BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS for the INCOMPETENT AFGHANISTAN Withdrawal – THE MOST EMBARRASSING DAY IN U.S. HISTORY!!! They should have been at Arlington, not on a beach or studying for a Debate. Thank you to my friends, the GREAT GOLD STAR FAMILIES, for revealing the TRUTH OF A BEAUTIFUL DAY OF HONOR. Could not have been a nicer moment-And there were no fights or problems, only in the heads of those that are destroying our Country! MAGA2024”

Trump’s not just calling Kamala a liar. In defending his disrespect of the military, he’s literally calling the ARMY liars. They released an official statement saying that there had been a physical incident at the cemetery, but that the Army member involved had decided not to press charges. Even Trump’s team admitted that they had been briefly prevented from doing what they wanted.

From a CNN piece on the incident a few days ago:

“Trump was rebuked by the Army over his campaign’s use of video and images from the visit, which critics say ran afoul of rules prohibiting political activity on the sacred grounds. The Army has said participants in the ceremony “were made aware of federal laws” regarding political activity and an employee of the cemetery who “attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside.”

Not satisfied to somehow blame it entirely on Kamala Harris, Trump even tried to blame Gold Star families, suggesting it was them who circulated the pictures and video of the event, rather than his campaign. “I don’t know what the rules and regulations are. I don’t know who did it,” Trump said. “It could have been them — it could have been the parents.”

Of course, he said that BEFORE his campaign officially released their political ad showing him walking through the prohibited area and trash-talking Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Looks like he’s taking that back too.

And what’s this about an “incompetent” Afghanistan withdrawal? Is he talking about the withdrawal that HE, Donald J. Trump, negotiated with the Taliban, who then didn’t hold up their end of the bargain?

Trump has no respect for the Truth, and no respect for the Military. I don’t capitalize those because I’m some kind of weirdo who randomly capitalizes words (like Trump), but because those could be chapter titles in a book about what a dirtbag Trump is at every turn.
