2024 Election

Trump Goes Full Dictator in Latest Unhinged Tantrum

Grievance is the order of the day.

Unless something very, very wrong happened in this year’s election, Donald Trump won, and with a mandate. He won both the electoral college and the popular vote, although that margin is decreasing as ballots keep getting counted in some places.

You’d think that a guy who won it all decisively like that would just be happy with the results. In fact, he got more than just a win. In the big Iowa poll that he’d been so worried about, pollster Ann Selzer had Kamala Harris up by three points just days before the election. Trump won the state by 13 points, making her off by 16 full points.

Selzer was so upset about getting it completely wrong that she just announced she was “stepping away” from polling.

Okay, so he won, and the operator of one of the only polls that had Harris in the lead quit her job after 27 years. His enemies have resigned in disgrace. The man should be ecstatic. You definitely know by my tone at this point that he is not.

Trump is now on social media calling for an investigation into not just the poll, but the paper that published it. You know, Iowa’s newspaper of record for the last 122 years, the Des Moines Register.

From a Truth Social post on Sunday night:

“A totally Fake poll that caused great distrust and uncertainty at a very critical time. She knew exactly what she was doing. Thank you to the GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA for giving me such a record breaking vote, despite possible ELECTION FRAUD by Ann Selzer and the now discredited “newspaper” for which she works. An investigation is fully called for!”

King Crybaby has begun his reign, it seems.

“She knew” what, exactly, Donnie? She knew she was putting her reputation on the line and risking being proved wrong in the most important election of her lifetime? Because that’s what she WAS doing.

In fact, part of the reason she cited for leaving her role as the state’s leading pollster was that she might have actually helped the Trump campaign. It’s entirely possible that voters who might have thought Trump was going to coast to victory in the reliably red state ended up turning out in greater numbers than they might have without the poll results.

She was worried that she affected the outcome of the election — in the opposite direction of what Trump is accusing her of attempting to do. But Donnie is mad that she even gave anyone a glimmer of hope that Harris might win there, like Obama did in 2008 and 2012.

Never mind that Trump has won there three times in a row now.

What would be investigated? I don’t actually think Trump cares. His mission has become to punish any person or institution that might say or do anything to undermine the idea of his popularity.
