In case it hadn’t yet been made perfectly clear by the repeated, obvious dates that Donald Trump, Junior has been on with Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson, the president-elect’s eldest son actually spoke exclusively to a news outlet about his breakup with longtime girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle with a pretty casual statement confirming it.

After months of rumors finally culminated in his father assigning his fiancée to Greece as the US Ambassador, Junior has been much more open about the not-so-secret relationship he’s been having for at least a few months now with Anderson, an Instagram model and “life coach.”

But until he spoke to the New York Post’s “Page Six” tabloid, he hadn’t really finalized the announcement. Not with any kind of independently confirmed press release or anything, anyway.

In fact, he still hasn’t yet said any words that translate to “I broke up with Kim.” But the statement he just gave them has an air of finality about it that can’t be mistaken. “Kimberly and I will never stop caring for each other and will always keep a special bond,” he told the outlet. After his impersonal social media message wishing Kim well (in the country she’ll be moving to, obviously without him), all that remained was to hear him talk about her in the past tense.

I think that sentence pretty much qualifies.

However, some have taken umbrage with just how dispassionate and seemingly disinterested Junior has been about the whole thing. Even in this latest statement, he sounds like he’s concluding a business transaction with a client he may need to work with again in the future.

“I could not be more proud of her and the important role she’ll continue to play in my father‘s administration,” Junior said. He went on to defend her from remarks that have been made about her in the media. But he certainly doesn’t sound like he’s talking about his ex-fiancée — more like an ex-coworker:

Anyone taking baseless and petty fake news cheap shots at her in the tabloids are just embarrassing themselves.

She’s been an undefeated prosecutor, national TV news star, a leader of the MAGA movement and close advisor to the president. The people of Greece are getting an absolute star and now the whole world will see it more than ever.

Since the very beginning, no one on Team Trump has worked harder than Kimberly to help elect and reelect my father — and no one deserves this ambassadorship more than she does.

“On Team Trump?” It’s more than a little weird that he’s talking about the woman he’s been in a relationship with for six years entirely in terms of her relationship with his father.

The junior Trump has been engaged to Guilfoyle since 2020, in a relationship with her that began in 2018, before he was even divorced from his first wife Vanessa, the mother of his five children.

Once again, this statement still isn’t a clearly-stated announcement of a split between he and Guilfoyle. But he has definitely not been shy about his affair with Bettina Anderson. In addition to the dates and gifts and public appearances together, Junior even spent her birthday weekend with her at her townhome in Palm Beach while Kimberly was 20 minutes away at their shared home in Jupiter, Florida.

The whole set of circumstances seems super underhanded to me. Why be so obvious if he’s not going to overtly confirm their split?
