You can’t really blame Melania Trump for wanting a little distance between her and the old man. He is a peevish, detestable toddler, whose antics would try the patience of the most peaceful of Zen masters.

It seems that Melania has found, in Elon Musk, a bit of reprieve. Obviously Musk isn’t taking over ALL of her “duties” (that still get done), but he is serving as a distraction for Donald. That’s good for her, since her husband has a history of just using her for his purposes whenever he can get her around.

She was wise to avoid him during his campaign. She was even smarter to stay away during his trials. If she can pull off being able to keep him at a distance permanently, maybe she has a chance at being happy and potentially raising a semi-normal son.

Now, there’s really not much difference in her role this time around. She will, as was typical last time, be hands-off when it comes to politics. She has her own life and doesn’t want to be bothered with the business side of Trump’s job.

But really, she has it even better this time around in the White House. As long as Elon Musk is keeping Trump busy, she doesn’t mind one bit. That’s according to a report from People magazine, who spoke to a source inside the Trump camp.

It’s not just that Elon is sitting in on phone calls with leaders and participating in staffing meetings. It’s that even during Trump’s downtime, they’re having lunch or dinner together. They’re playing golf. They’re dancing to “YMCA” by the Village People.

“Melania is glad to have a babysitter for Donald, and she will find some kind of project to team up with him herself if he stays around,” the source told People. “Melania has her own life and isn’t bothered by political dealings her husband has with others. But so far, she has no issues with Musk.”

Another source told the news outlet, “Melania is in good spirits and does her own thing, and is not bothered one way or the other by Musk hanging around.”

The second source went on: “For the most part, she is not involved with subjects her husband is discussing with Musk or anyone else hanging around him. Right now, Trump has a lot of people wanting things from him. She is all too aware of that. Melania is glad to have her husband busy with his work. And so far, Musk is part of that mindset.”

I just bet he is.
