Trump Supporter Begs for Help After Job Offer Rescinded Due to Trump’s Order, ‘My Wife Is in Tears and My Family is Devastated!’

The one thing that sensible people hope for in times like this is the one thing we know will absolutely not happen: Anyone learning any lessons from the way they voted.

And the reason you can count on all the lessons going unlearned is because we’ve watched them do all of this before. Conservatives have been voting against their own best interests since Republican politicians learned how to triangulate voters using social issues.

The bottom line is, there’s no way to convince them that the policies they’re actively asking for won’t help them. They’ve been conditioned to blame all of the wrong people for the problems in their lives, and it starts with anyone who disagrees with their social views. Republicans today hate Democrats more than they hate minorities, immigrants, criminals, and people with French accents.

But they love Donald Trump. And so does John Basham, a disabled veteran from Texas. I mean, this guy LOVES Donald Trump. I’ll show you a little bit of his X account (as it currently is, after the events in this article occurred). It’s clear that John didn’t learn his lesson, even after having it explicitly and specifically happen to him.

John’s wife is a nurse, and she had just recently (like, recently) accepted a job with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs helping other disabled veterans like her husband. I bet you already know where this is going [1], if you’re an avid reader here at Political Flare.

You guessed it: Trump’s executive order that came with a hiring freeze for the federal government took John’s wife’s job offer and made it disappear, just like all the park rangers finding out that they no longer have jobs either.

But John and his family packed up all their things and spent beaucoup money to move themselves from Forth Worth to Waco for this job that his wife had already secured.

Here’s the part that makes me the maddest, though: John posted a message aimed directly at Donald Trump asking for help to sort out the situation. He really believes that Trump supporters should get help that other people shouldn’t.

Is John like this because Trump pardoned all those criminals who supported him? Does he think he gets special dispensation because of Trump’s photo-op style acts of kindness here and there, that always help some Trump supporter? Does he think he deserves personal assistance from the President because sometimes Trump retweets the right-wing kooks who post glowing things about him?

It could be any of that stuff. But this was definitely not an “unintended consequence” of anything. Trump has never respected the military, and doesn’t care who his policies adversely affect.

And in fact, it turns out that John thinks Trump will help him because he’s an absolute loon.

There’s a whole Facebook page [2] dedicated to exposing the truth about his past, including his stint as mayor pro tem of Reno, Texas, when he was arrested for family violence. His dog once bit a kid and he threatened the child’s parents with criminal trespass if they pursued the matter, then refused to accept a citation for the incident, and refused to quarantine the unvaccinated canine, per state law. These are the kinds of things the page details.

The funniest thing I found on that page is a photo of his résumé where he claimed a degree from the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research as a “Hydrometeorlogical Technition.” In addition to the mangled spelling, a request to UCAR’s HR department showed no record of employment with them for John Basham, and they clarified that they’re not A university, they’re the “University Corporation,” and they don’t even offer degrees.

Like most Trumpers, John Basham believes he is above consequence. Unfortunately for his family, the consequence of voting for Donald Trump is that they wasted thousands of dollars preparing to move for a job that Donald Trump took away.

And there’s a less-than-zero chance that Trump decides to take pity on this one guy just because he’s a supporter. Trump would look like a monster to the legions of other people who were just as devastated by Trump’s executive order as John and his wife Tammy.

The truth is, John is a tiny fish in an ocean of destruction from Trump policies. But the question remains: Has he learned his lesson? I’ll let you decide — here are some posts from his X page, as I promised:

Nope. Still a huge fan. And of course the reason there’s only a screenshot of his plea for help is because he’s since deleted it. He knows no help is coming. He HAS to know that even if Trump DID decide to help him, his staff would take even less time than it took me to find out he has a shady past.

The very definition of the “FAFO” that he’s so proud of Trump for posting.
