Ann Coulter Says the Border Crisis is Worse Under Trump Than It Would’ve Been Under Hillary Clinton

Conservative political pundit, and onetime avid supporter of Donald Trump, Ann Coulter said she now disapproves so much of Trump’s handling of the situation at the Mexico-U.S. border to the point where she thinks Hillary Clinton and ex-President Barack Obama would do a better job.

Coulter bashed Trump on an episode of Firing Line with Margaret Hoover in an episode set to air on PBS Friday night.

Host Hoover asked Coulter to explain how she would characterize the crisis at the southern border with Mexico.

“How about this—worse than it would ever be under any Democrat. Worse than it would be under Hillary,” Coulter said.

Hoover, who is also a conservative political commentator, reiterated her question given Coulter’s somewhat surprising answer.

“The dynamics at the border are worse than they would be under a Democrat right now?” Hoover she asked, looking for clarification.

“Yes, more illegal aliens pouring in than they would be under President Hillary Clinton, definitely under President Bill Clinton. We know if you can go back to that time,” Coulter replied. “Definitely under Obama. There were surges under Obama but Obama knew, ‘Uh oh, I better do something about this.’”

Coulter continued: “Not Trump. He just sends out a tweet saying ‘I’m going to shut down the border’ and then goes, ‘But you just keep pouring in, pouring in, pouring in.’”

Hoover then asked Coulter to comment on what Trump is not doing that a Democratic leader would do.

“I promise you this could not continue because a Democrat would know he would be dead in the water,” Coulter said in a mocking tone. “He couldn’t just tweet something out and have everybody say ‘Yay.’”

On Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, Coulter suggested she would vote for 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders if the Vermont senator, who is Indepedent but is seeking the Democratic nomination, were to change his position and come out in favor of “protecting the border.”

“If he went back to his original position which is the pro-blue-collar position, I mean it totally makes sense with him if he went back to that position, I’d vote for him, I might work for him,” Coulter said. “I don’t care about the rest of the socialist stuff just, can we do something for ordinary Americans.”

Coulter also said Trump had a “great campaign” in 2016 and said, “ If only, oh my gosh, if only he governed one percent of the way he campaigned.”
