Grieving Parents ‘Ambushed’ by Trump — Who Had Teen’s Killer Waiting at White House for Photo Op
Donald Trump attempted to set up a surprise meeting between the parents of Harry Dunn and the American woman that killed him in an overseas traffic accident.
Dunn died in an auto collision after the wife of an American diplomat, Anne Sacoolas, struck his motorcycle on Aug. 27. Although the accident occurred in the United Kingdom, Sacoolas claimed diplomatic immunity and flew back to the United States.
Trump invited Dunn’s parents, who have been advocating for Sacoolas to return to the United Kingdom to turn herself in, to the White House for a meeting. During the meeting, Trump shocked Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn by revealing that Sacoolas was also in the West Wing and was willing to meet the pair. The two sides have agreed to meet, but Dunn’s parents had not agreed to meet with Sacoolas that day.
In an interview on CBS This Morning on Wednesday, Charles and Dunn expressed the unsettling experiences they faced when they realized Sacoolas was also at the White House.
Charles claimed that Trump was “welcoming” to the pair, but made it clear he was hoping for a meeting between the two.

“It didn’t take long for [Trump] to drop into the conversation that Anne Sacoolas was in the building,” Charles said.
Dunn said Trump’s announcement “took your breath away” when he first heard it.
Charles said the arrangement was the “wrong setting” for the meeting to take place, although she still wants to meet with Sacoolas. She noted that they requested the meeting be in a group setting along with counselors to help make the experience beneficial to both sides.
“It needs to be on U.K. soil, you know, and with therapists and mediators,” said Charles. “And that’s not just for us; that’s for her as well. You know, she’s traumatized.”
The two refused to meet with Sacoolas, despite Trump offering several times and the crowd of reporters hoping to capture the moment.
“If it was his child, he would be doing exactly the same as what we’re doing,” Charles said.
This. Is. Insane.
Trump and his team tried to get the grieving parents of Harry Dunn into a room with Anne Sacoolas, the woman who killed their son, without mediators or therapists, just to get a photo op.
Completely inappropriate and heartless.

A representative for the family slammed the president attempt at setting up the meeting, calling it “obviously designed to be a press call.”
“It struck us that this meeting was hastily arranged by nincompoops on the run and in particular Mr. O’Brien, who appeared to be extremely uptight and aggressive and did not come across at all well in this meeting which required careful handling and sensitivity,” the representative said, singling out new national security adviser Robert O’Brien.
Trump also claimed the meeting was “beautiful.”
Trump on meeting w/family of teen killed in the UK by wife of a US diplomat in an auto accident: "My meeting w/the family was really, uh, beautiful in a certain way … it was very sad. They lost their son. I believe it was going down the wrong way, b/c that happens in Europe." pic.twitter.com/tRFDpfEHTY
