Trump Freaks Out Over Teenage Activist Greta Thunberg, ‘She Beat Me Out at TIME Magazine!’
Donald Trump said he would have liked to hear Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg speak while the two of them were in Davos, Switzerland.
Trump, who has sparred with the 17-year-old, dismissed warnings of climate change from environmental activists during his speech at the World Economic Forum on Tuesday, calling them the “prophets of doom.”
During a Wednesday news conference, the president was asked about Thunberg.
“She beat me out on Time magazine,” Trump said, referring to the publication’s naming Thunberg the 2019 “Person of the Year.” “I would have loved to have seen her speak.”

He added, “Some people are — they put it at a level that is, you know, unrealistic to a point you can’t live your lives.”
A day prior, Trump denied knowing “anything about” the teenager.
“I don’t really know anything about her,” he said, adding that she’s “very angry.”
The same day, Thunberg scolded world leaders at the annual gathering for not doing more to combat the warming planet.
“I wonder what will you tell your children was the reason to fail and leave them facing a climate chaos that you knowingly brought upon them. That it seemed so bad for the economy that we decided to resign the idea of securing future living conditions without even trying? Our house is still on fire,” she said.
“We are telling you to act as if you loved your children above all else,” she continued.
