GOP Hypocrisy

Will Trump Spend Weekend Coordinating Virus Response? Nope, ‘Highlight of His Year’ Speaking at CPAC

Look, I get it. It could be considered a good thing that Trump “isn’t working” and instead spends his time yammering away at people who bow in worship, or extend their hands long and strong in the air toward him. It may not exactly be a bad thing from a pragmatic standpoint.

But Trump does have the ability to unleash the thousands of people who are the world’s elite at fighting a pandemic, getting them out there to do what they do best. Trump could be in the White House listening to the specialists formulate a plan and writing down the orders needed to get it done. He doesn’t even need to say a word. It could be effective.

But he’s not doing that. He is going to speak many words to the CPAC gathering down the street that he calls the “highlight of his year.”

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace was shocked to learn that President Donald Trump will be speaking on Saturday to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Wallace described the conference as “a right-wing circle Festivus.”

“This is the highlight of his year,” explained Jonathan Lemire, a White House reporter for the Associated Press.

Friends of the blog here know that Nicole Wallace is the blogs favorite analyst. We like that her brain seems rigged better than mine, and her giggle makes us stop worrying for one or two seconds.

She is often the first to be right in her analysis, too. This is a great example. Wallace has worked in a White House in crisis. She worked for the George W. Bush White House, one which endured 9-11, the Iraq War, and the last global plunge in the markets. She knows that a proper response is: “All hands on deck, everyone cancel everything and get here to help.”

But she also worked with people who were elite. Forget W. Bush for a minute, I sure do. Love ’em or hate them, Bush wasn’t afraid to hear the analysis from … well, people like Wallace.

Trump is terrified of hearing anything he doesn’t want to hear, and that’s why he’d never consider canceling his speech at CPAC. He is never among people that suck-up his bullshit with total devotion more than at CPAC. Our “president” is such a baby that this happens to be the highlight of his year, basking in the adoration of other morons.

There is another “highlight” he could otherwise be working on. He could highlight his ability to listen and unleash the resources of the richest nation on earth, stuffed with the best scientists and doctors on earth to do their thing. That might be the highlight of everyone’s year. But we don’t count. He needs his “highlight” and we can f-off.

Keep this up and the “highlight” of everyone’s year will be a wave election to begin the process of cleaning up his mess.
