Draft-Dodging Trump Attacks Gen. John Kelly and Kelly’s WIFE in Gross Revenge-Seeking Tweet

Good god.

This is the president of the United States.

As you read here earlier today, Marine General and White House former Chief of Staff John Kelly supported Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman’s decision to report the lawlessness he witnessed in the White House and testify to what he saw as unlawful behavior by Trump. Kelly said that Vindman did as he was trained, like a professional soldier.

Obviously Trump cannot handle such a dynamic. The man-baby is unable to maturely process criticism or a statement that insufficiently praises him as leader. We knew that John Kelly would get blowback, and we probably could have written it beforehand.

“When I terminated John Kelly, which I couldn’t do fast enough, he knew full well that he was way over his head,” Trump tweeted. “Being Chief of Staff just wasn’t for him. He came in with a bang, went out with a whimper, but like so many X’s, he misses the action & just can’t keep his mouth shut, which he actually has a military and legal obligation to do.”

That is just so rich when Trump slams someone else for “not being able to keep his mouth shut.” Additionally, General John Kelly is under no obligation now to keep his mouth shut, indeed one could say he has an affirmative duty to protect other soldiers and defend the nation.

Then Trump has to be Trump. He needlessly mentioned John Kelly’s wife, and put her in the center of his whine, which could conceivably put her at risk. We know MAGA heads have threatened people who cross Trump in the past:

“His incredible wife, Karen, who I have a lot of respect for,” Trump tweeted, “once pulled me aside & said strongly that ‘John respects you greatly. When we are no longer here, he will only speak well of you.’ Wrong!”

Not a chance in hell did she say that. There is little chance that John Kelly, the marine general, would “respect Trump greatly.” There is “no chance” that John Kelly’s wife would make that assurance to Trump.

It is just another Trump lie, in just another petty Trump attack, by a president that continues to test the limits of his own power, while unable to take even mild criticism.

This is the new normal.
