Legend Marine General John Kelly Former WH Chief Slaps Back at Trump, Supports Vindman

Powerful ex-administration officials and ex-military officers have seen enough. Trump’s retaliation period, the heads on pike stage, and the period of vengeance are bringing forth some of the most powerful people in the nation to resurface from private life to oppose Trump’s power-grab and despotic moves head-on.

Former Chief of Staff and former Marine General John Kelly addressed the firing of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman (and brother), the former National Security Council aides that Trump purged as retribution for testifying against Trump during the impeachment proceedings. General Kelly gave LTC Alexander Vindman the highest praise in his defense.

Kelly stated that Vindman simply followed his military training when reporting questionable activity with respect to Trump’s behavior and Trump’s demands of Ukraine, according to the Atlantic.

“He did exactly what we teach them to do from cradle to grave,” Kelly said during the event. “He went and told his boss what he just heard.”

Kelly did not accept Trump’s cry that the call was perfect and instead supported Congress’s findings:

..the president had conditioned military aid on Ukraine’s agreement to announce an investigation of Joe Biden and his son.

Kelly’s assessment lends tremendous support and gravitas to the action Vindman undertook, while also making the response look even more petty and vengeful response.

Kelly went on to explain:

“Through the Obama administration up until that phone call, the policy of the U.S. was militarily to support Ukraine in their defensive fight against … the Russians,” Kelly said. “And so, when the president said that continued support would be based on X, that essentially changed. And that’s what that guy [Vindman] was most interested in.”

When Vindman heard the president tell Zelensky he wanted to see the Biden family investigated, that was tantamount to hearing “an illegal order,” Kelly said. “We teach them, ‘Don’t follow an illegal order. And if you’re ever given one, you’ll raise it to whoever gives it to you that this is an illegal order, and then tell your boss.’”

It is self-evident that others in power structures around the White House and capitol have picked-up upon this new period of Trump-led destruction. Key voices will be needed to abut the policy to destroy those who hurt Trump, and it looks like people with stature will work to keep the environment safe for those who wish to report wrongdoing, the counterweight to Trump’s storm troopers who will seek to grab power in the vacuum post acquittal. Otherwise, Trump will believe he can do whatever he wants.

Very few have the strength to stand up to Trump and his network, Kelly is very likely one of the few that unquestionably does.

Peace, y’all
