A Noticeably Awkward Short of Breath Trump Announces it’s a ‘Beautiful Day’ as Coronavirus Deaths Hit 1,000
The single most noticeable aspect of today’s press conference came through with alarming – and that word is used literally – alarmingly, clarity, as Trump took to the podium to list off a shitload of unnecessary presidential names, of whom had spoken with and seemed short of breath with each and every one.
He even started leaning against the podium, speaking down without even lifting his head. As someone who is not at all a fan, I have to say it was deeply concerning seeing it live and so damned obvious.
Yes, we cover this type of thing a great deal here, maybe too much, we talk about that as writers among ourselves. But sometimes I wonder if it is too little. I just noticed another sentence that he couldn’t get through without taking another deep breath.
He was only forty-five seconds into the presser before he attacked the media, and bizarrely noting something about needing a Tom Brady to save us. Apparently Trump has spent time speaking to Brady in the last few days – in the middle of a war, as he calls it.

He seemed quite proud that he had spoken to the G-20 leaders and went on to mention that he spoke to the governors. I am not sure why he mentioned – – deep breath – the largest “by far” stimulus package ever. Does he understand that needing massive stimulus packages is not actually something anyone wants happening during their presidency?
He looked down through the first quarter of the press conference seemingly almost afraid to look up. I can’t understand why he again said that “no one has ever had a package like this,” because that is not at all something to be proud about!
I just hope he makes it through this at this point, he’s red, puffy, and short of breath, has been the entire time.
Weird.
And Trump immediately announced it is a “beautiful day.” Odd, considering the US is now the epicenter of the disease with over 1,000 deaths.
