Asked to Give Himself a ‘Grade’ in His Response to the Virus: Trump Says He’s Been Perfect, a ’10’

During a press conference in which – at times – Trump looked barely alive himself, Trump was asked about whether the buck stopped with him, and on a scale of 1 to 10, what grade would he give himself on his handling of the viral pandemic?

I am certain that the journalist who asked the question was simply trying to get an answer that will go down throughout history as “historically stupid,” because of course, Trump gave himself a “ten out of ten,” and immediately went to his serenity teddy-bear, that thing he talks about when all else is falling apart, that he shut off flights from China very early – which was a good move, as we have seen, he was right to do it. The problem is that Trump did nothing after that point beyond provide disinformation and deny testing to people, allowing the response to be at least 6 weeks behind much of the world.

Trump then talked about how the system wasn’t set up to handle an epidemic like this, that no one had ever seen anything like this before, and brag that he has now rebuilt it such that he can now handle it – of course, he isn’t mentioning that he disbanded the entire epidemic team in the White House that actually had been set up by President Obama in response to the Ebola outbreak. He has blamed that upon John Bolton – someone that no longer works in the White House and whom Trump has reason to despise given what might be coming, so that is convenient, and I am not inclined to believe it.

But – just so you know, the grades are out, the professor (the creepy kind), has given himself a 10 out of 10 – you, however, might have failed.

Situation normal – Trump is perfect.
