Americans Furious After Learning Trump Bent Federal Law to Give Interview Inside the Lincoln Memorial
He is incapable of being restrained. His every whim must be served. He is truly becoming a dictator and held back only by our institutional strength. Certainly, no American can confine him and definitely no law, only whatever norms we have left and some powerful international criminals.
Trump broke the law, or simply changed the law to suit his whims, pick one of the two, and sat down inside the actual atrium of the Lincoln Memorial, which the law specifically prohibits. Now it’s “done” and it is a stain on history. He did it to talk to Fox News – a campaign event. Oh, and he lied and said he’s treated worse than Lincoln.
Via the New York Times:
“While Mr. Trump and many other presidents have hosted inauguration concerts and gatherings on the memorial’s steps, any event meant to draw an audience inside the interior near Daniel Chester French’s sculpture of a seated Lincoln is prohibited. The area beginning with the marble staircase where the columns start constitutes a boundary protected by federal law,” reported Katie Rogers. “So on Sunday, when the president sat down with two Fox News anchors at Lincoln’s marbled feet during a coronavirus-focused virtual ‘town hall,’ it was because a directive issued by David Bernhardt, the secretary of the interior, had allowed them to do so.”
The law prohibited it, but laws don’t apply to Trump. What this demonstrates is nothing short of Trump’s total disregard for anything saying “No.” Just like Congress can’t have subpoena power over the experts at CDC, the law says no gathering in the atrium. Trump says “I’m doing it, I am president.”
If you were president and had the idea for doing the event at the memorial – which you wouldn’t – and then someone told you, “Mr. President, it’s against the law to hold any gathering in the atrium. It’s just something that is not done, never has been.” You would nod, and say “Okay, what are some other options for something different? Camp David?”

You would not say; “So? Get Bernhardt to okay it and just do it. Don’t bother me with this again.”
He is Saddam Hussein navigating the United States government, and that’s the end of it. Call him what he is – a dictator. We should be furious. The memorial is hallowed ground and history will record that a spoiled man-child broke the law to do it.
People are disgusted;
This trash had no business doing a campaign event at OUR monument. He could have whined and played the victim, while congratulating himself for 70k dead, elsewhere.

And all he did was sit there and complain about not being adored.

Even though it’s a national disgrace that he places himself in the memorial of a great President he casts no shadow and leaves no legacy that will endure other than that of his narcissistic need to feed his personal insecurities and fragile ego.

This man has no shame. He has no honor or humility. Sick.

The location for the interview with President Trump shows how puny he is compared to the great Presidents who preceded him like Abraham Lincoln.

I hope they disinfected the monument the minute they left. pic.twitter.com/BGQabhRnCC

That was a travesty of a sacred trust by an administration that will pay a heavy price someday soon.
