Russian Media Calls Trump Russia’s ‘Agent’ and Jokingly Says He’ll Have to Flee to Russia After Presidency

One never knew that the Russian media was so “funny.” But apparently they fancy themselves to be quite the comedians. Despite the fact that Russians acknowledge that there is very little “trust” between the two countries, it is highly odd. The Russians never joked that Obama was a puppet, or might have to move to Russia post-presidency.

If there is a joke here it is that anyone on the international scene will have any use for Trump once he is out of office. Trump may think he is best buddies with China, Saudia Arabia, or Russia and that they’ll do anything to help him, but the day Trump’s out of office …

Regardless, no one is sure what to make of this. From Newsweek and The Daily Beast:

Rossiya 1, a Russian TV channel, aired a news segment entitled, “Puppet Master and ‘Agent’—How to Understand Lavrov’s Meeting With Trump,” according to The Daily Beast. On the Russian program Sunday Evening With Vladimir Soloviev, Mikhail Gusman, first deputy director of ITAR-TASS, Russia’s largest news agency, said, “Sooner or later, the Democrats will come back into power. The next term or the term after that, it doesn’t matter… I have an even more unpleasant forecast for Trump. After the White House, he will face a very unhappy period.”

“Should we get another apartment in Rostov ready?” asked host Vladimir Soloviev, as translated by The Daily Beast. This was a reference to former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, who fled Russia in 2014 after being removed from office via a Parliamentary vote stemming from mass protests from citizens who accused him of corruption and cronyism. Yanukovych called this an “armed coup.” He has since allegedly moved to a residence near Moscow.

They can call it a joke and laugh all they want. All Russian media knows that it cannot put anything on TV that would upset Putin, and this is just so so … odd?

We will watch this develop. It sure doesn’t feel right.
