Is Trump Banning TikTok Because He Was Humiliated by Sarah Cooper and TikTok Teens?

To be sure, Tiktok has caused some issues. There is a theory that the Chinese government either developed the app to purposefully steal information, or once the Chinese figured out how popular and good it was, it then started using the app to steal information. Either way, if one wants to have one’s information stolen, the consensus is there is no more efficient means than Tiktok … other than Google and Facebook, of course.

To add some legitimacy to this, the United States military banned Tiktok and so did the DNC long before it occurred to Trump to order it disbanded. So there is a problem somewhere.

But there is a lot of stuff out there that both steals shit from Americans (Facebook isn’t going down) and causing a lot of problems (Covid isn’t getting all that much Trump attention) that Trump isn’t yet banning. So the question becomes – does Trump hate Sarah Cooper’s devastating impersonations so much that it’s Sarah that is driving Trump insane?

There is certainly a lot of material to work with, and if you haven’t heard any of these you absolutely need to in order to consider yourself a conversant American:

So now from Mediaite:

POTUS came back on the plane to talk with pool and put the following on the record:

President Trump said Friday he planned to bar the Chinese-owned social media platform Tik Tok from operating in the United States.

Trump told reporters traveling with him from Tampa that he planned to take action against the popular video-sharing app as soon as Saturday.

“As far as TikTok is concerned we’re banning them from the United States,” Trump said.

Trump said he could use emergency economic powers or an executive order to ban TikTok in the United States.

“Well, I have that authority. I can do it with an executive order or that,” he said referring to emergency economic powers.

Trump made clear he was not in favor of a deal to let a U.S. company buy TikTok’s American operations.

The rest of his comments were OFF RECORD.

It is the “off the record” thing that is intriguing, because how many times have you read that in a story? “Everything else he said was “off the record?” One never hears that. It might be a tell – they have some indication that Trump is going to do it, and exactly what is bothering him so much.

He is famously thin-skinned. We are pretty sure that Sarah can find another platform. She’s a bit smart, that one.

Then there is the issue of Trump’s Tulsa rally back in June. You remember, the one where barely anyone showed up?

Trump held the rally, in spite of public health experts’ warnings. (There was a subsequent spike in coronavirus cases there.) Before the rally, hundreds of TikTok teens pranked the campaign by registering for the free tickets, with no intention of showing up. When the campaign could only fill a fraction of the 19,000-seat stadium in a Republican stronghold, the TikTok teens claimed victory: “best senior prank ever.”

Trump was furious that there were so many empty seats, and, quite possibly, resentful that TikTok teens had outsmarted his campaign.
