Mika Brzezinski Takes Trump Down for the Win on Atlantic Story: ‘Everyone Else Was There’

Donald Trump is still reeling from the after-effects of the Atlantic story in which he is quoted as saying that the Americans lying in the cemetery in France are suckers and losers. Trump spent the entire last week denying the story vehemently, and yet too much of the story rings true for Trump to make much progress. Indeed, one element of the story, the part about not wanting to go to the cemetery at all out of fear that his hair will get wet, is almost self-proving. Yesterday, Trump spent time in the presser telling people that the weather was some of the worst that anyone had ever seen, the hardest rain anyone had ever seen, and that the Secret Service said twice “Sir, you cannot go.” (Double “Sir Story”)

That doesn’t sound like the U.S. Secret Service, which is about as professional an organization as to ever exist, one with a “no-fail” mission that hasn’t “failed” in any real sense in decades, if not nearly 60 years. Put it this way, the U.S. has the best trained and most dedicated personnel, with access to the most modern equipment and logistics, if anyone could get it done it would be the U.S. Secret Service.

Yet, as Mika points out, the U.S. President was the only one in that group that somehow “didn’t get it done,” and that tells us just about everything we need to know. Every leader in France that weekend also had very sophisticated and dedicated security personnel there. Something about our operation was “different,” as the U.S. president was the only one unable to make the trip:

Yes. Germany, France, Canada, and others – all those services got their leaders to the cemetery. Something about our guy was different and I suppose we’re supposed to ignore the fact that it was raining and our famously petulant child-president hates the rain.

Nice job, Mika.
