Well-preserved fossil Pat Robertson, speaking on his program The 700 Club earlier today told his audience that God has informed him that President Donald Trump will be reelected … and that will be the beginning of the End Times.

According to Right Wing Watch Robertson said, “without question, Trump is going to win the election,” he said, and that will result in widespread civil unrest and there will be at least two attempts to assassinate Trump.

Only two? Hmmm. You may remember that televangelist/colloidal silver fake cure hawker Jim Bakker has also said Trump will be assassinated and one evangelist has even prophesied this on YouTube.

And Robertson, who seems to have been around for 400 years even though it’s only actually been 90, said that while chaos enflames the country, Islamic nations will attack Israel (perhaps while we’re not looking) and will be smitten by God. Then peace will reign.

Well, it’s a nice fantasy anyway. But those years of peace will, according to Robertson the Ancient, will lead to a global revival of sorts. The world will, however, experience “great tribulation” when an asteroid smacks the Earth, thus leading to the End Times.

In the unlikely event that Robertson is on to something here, I’m going to add that renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has said there’s a chance that a refrigerator-sized asteroid may strike the Earth the day before Election Day. Fortunately for us, it’s not large enough to do much damage.

Asteroid 2018VP1, a refrigerator-sized space-rock, is hurtling towards us at more than 40,000 km/hr.

It may buzz-cut Earth on Nov 2, the day before the Presidential Election.

Robertson has a rather fanciful history of making predictions that blow up in his face. He likes to blame gay people for hurricanes and in 1998 that turned rather embarrassing for him when Hurricane Bonnie changed course and whammed Virginia Beach, where his precious 700 Club is located.

And some people may think of Robertson as a kindly, if doddering old man, but he was the sole shareholder in the for-profit African Development Company Ltd. a diamond mining operation located in the remote village of Kamonia, in Kinshasa, Africa, according to a 2017 report from The Daily Beast. The company’s mining license was granted by Mobutu Sese Seko, who was the president of Zaire (now called the Democratic Republic of The Congo) at the time. Mobutu was a brutal dictator who was responsible for horrifying atrocities and was sanctioned by the United Nations.

But all that was okay with Robertson, who lobbied to have the sanctions against Mobutu removed.

I’m only mentioning this because Robertson is pulling for Trump and that doddering old man act of his is wearing very thin. He is not a kind or moral human being, so it’s no wonder he supports Trump. And like Trump, he is a monster.
