It is often difficult to determine whether to report on some subjects. The more salacious details, such as Kimberly Guilfoyle’s lap dance offer for donors get a ton of attention and can be highly profitable for media. We prefer to do more analytical work that can’t be found elsewhere. Sometimes it is harder to get enough eyeballs on those articles.

We saw a detail yesterday in Politico’s long (really long) deep dive into the campaigns, both Biden’s and Trump’s, that we simply left aside momentarily and went with a few other “weird” aspects of Guilfoyle’s campaign financial leadership, her official posititon. (The lap dance and hot tubs). The detail we left aside and thought more about today involved a fetish that Don Jr. liked and Kimberly evidently talked about providing. The detail we left aside from Politico is below and then we’re going to get serious in explaining why this actually matters far more to our daily lives that we’d think and is an indication as to what ultimately went wrong with the Trump government and their campaign/movement.

And at a fall 2018 fundraiser headlined by country star Toby Keith, Guilfoyle cracked that her boyfriend liked it when she dressed up as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, according to an attendee.

If the crack was made in a bar at a girls’ night out among friends, well then, who cares, right? That is exactly right.

But this was a setting in which supposedly serious people were raising money for the supposedly serious job of seriously reelecting the president of the United States, the world’s most serious job. Kimberly Guilfoyle caused far more serious problems than “just” the lap dance offer, “just” the hot tub offer, or “just” the cheerleader fetish. She was inexperienced and difficult to work for while also causing the above problems. In short, she was unserious and unqualified.

But she was “family.” (Even without a wedding or anything official). And in Trump’s world, “family” means even more than effectiveness because, in the end, Trump needs loyalty over effectiveness. In our opinion, whenever Trump is faced with having to pick between competence and loyalty, he picks loyalty – always. Kim could be counted upon as “loyal.”

So the fact that we now “know” (all of us) that Junior loves it when Kimberly dresses as a Dallas Cowboys’ cheerleader to get him off, tells us something a little deeper. Any experienced and serious political operator would know instantly that “this can’t happen,” that this type of mistake is of the type that turns off big donors. It may turn on some hormones, but the head that controls the money would immediately question the competency of any operation that could operate like this.

These are people who are executives at Exxon, Chase, Walmart, Halliburton, how would they react to someone with serious responsibility in their company acting so ridiculously?

The scarier aspect of this is that one runs a government much like one runs a campaign. It’s an old saying, that if you can’t run a campaign you sure as hell can’t govern. This insight, the fact that we now ALL know this intimate and inappropriate detail because she was “loyal” says a great deal about why Jared was making decisions that killed people with COVID in blue states, why North Korea may still have nuclear weapons, why there’s no Iranian nuclear agreement and on and on. Unserious people, relying on loyalty above all else.

As ridiculous as it sounds, it actually does matter.
