This is precisely why this guy needs to be gone or democracy will never ever come back.

Yes, Trump believes that it is the FBI and DOJ’s job to help him, personally, with the lawsuits he is filing. Trump is already far too deep into controlling the DOJ and right now Bill Barr is desperately trying to keep himself out of prison by making even more mistakes, knowing that a real Attorney General is about to come in.

The DOJ is not the president’s Roy Cohn, despite the fact that Trump believed he needed and was entitled to a Roy Cohn to protect him at all times. The DOJ is not the president’s attorney. The Attorney General acts as the United States’ attorney, representing the entire country and no one person. There are situations in which the DOJ might investigate a person who is trying to injure the president, sure. Those instances are limited to situations where perhaps a certain company is planning to blackmail a president or bribe a president that the president doesn’t know about.

In those situations, sure, the DOJ and FBI can act on behalf of the “United States” because someone is committing a crime where the president is the victim and it threatens the country’s stability. Here, Trump wants the FBI and DOJ to operate as his investigators and lawyers as a campaign plaintiff, which is entirely different and something that Barr would not want to do on his way out the door.

There is also the fact that Maria Bartiromo is doing her best to truly act like a North Korean news host, one that lies about a president’s golf scores, with “three holes in one,” that type. She is not far.
