Trumpy Newsmax Host Calls for Trump Supporters to Form New ‘MAGA Party’: Republicans Just Aren’t ‘Cutting it’

Newsmax host Greg Kelly has apparently had it with the Republican Party and he’s not particularly fond of Democrats either. So he’s calling on Trump supporters to form a new political party inspired by President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

That’s right, he wants to call it the “Make America Great Again” Party.

Because of course, he does. And in some ways, he has a point. A third party could serve as a counter-balance between the Democratic and Republican parties and that might appeal to voters who don’t find the fringe elements of either party particularly attractive.

But that just isn’t on Kelly’s wavelength.

On his Wednesday evening edition of Greg Kelly Reports, he had a few sharp words for both parties, Alternet and Joe.My.God. report.

“We need a new party,” he told viewers. “Democrats aren’t cutting it, and quite frankly, I don’t think the Republicans are cutting it. At least a lot of them are just mailing it in.”

But Kelly doesn’t just want a party that focuses on the typical Republican talking points. No, he wants something that might make the Tea Party seem centrist by comparison. He wants conspiracy theories, especially the so-called “deep state” conspiracy theory in the nation’s purview. As in he wants to promote “canceling” the “deep state,” and like so many of these people, Kelly also wants to focus on the Constitution.

“The MAGA Party — a party about ideas, the Constitution, opportunity, liberty,” Kelly said. “Term limits, the Second Amendment, and canceling … the deep state and the federal bureaucracy.”

Kelly noted that while there are “some good people” in politics, he thinks it’s time for a change.

“There are some good people, but let’s face it,” he said. “It is big and bloated, and all kinds of waste could be cut away. I think it’s something that deserves serious, serious consideration in this country.”

With more than 73,000,000 people having voted for Trump, it’s clear the country will be polarized for months, if not years to come, especially since he and his supporters have continually spread misinformation, much of which focuses on unfounded conspiracy theories. So, while Trump’s term ends on January 20, 2021, the MAGA movement will be with us whether we like it or not.

While Kelly has a point that a third party could indeed be beneficial, his idea of a “Make America Great Again” Party would simply serve as a dog whistle to amplify fascism in the way that Donald Trump wished to do so. We’ll be in this for the long haul.

Are we up to it?

Here’s what Kelly had to say below.
