Americans Can’t Stop Laughing After Trump Falsely Claims He Won the Nobel Peace Prize
Only soon-to-be-leaving President Donald Trump can goof with such flair, and he did that Monday night by posting a video on Twitter that contains one big, juicy error backed up by misinformation. Goofs and misinformation have been the hallmarks of Trump’s presidency so why should this video be any different?
The minute-long video features a superimposed image of the Nobel Prize at one point. The clip praises him as “[standing] for America” and as it nears the end the prize is seen superimposed over a title card that reads “Trump Stands for Peace,” TheWrap reports.
Journalists were quick to remind people that Trump has never won a Nobel, Peace Prize or otherwise.
The Nobel Prize in Trump’s latest (campaign ad?) still remains aspirational —— for now pic.twitter.com/mwyxaXO9j2

That’s where the error part comes in. The medal featured isn’t the actual peace prize. It’s a Nobel Prize, to be sure, but it’s the one given out for the sciences or for literature.
John Kraljevich, an expert on rare coins offered up more precise criticism on Twitter.
“Professional medal guy here,” he wrote. “I’ve actually catalogued/authenticated a Nobel Peace Prize before (it brought over a million bucks at auction). That’s not even a Nobel Peace Prize. The medal depicted is awarded for physics, chemistry, physiology, or medicine, and literature. Idiot.”

The video itself is peculiar because it almost sounds like a campaign ad — nearly nine weeks after the election is done and over. It steals heavily from the old “Beef… it’s what’s for dinner” ad that was distributed by the Beef Industry Council from years gone by. Where incidentally, Trump served as a former pitchman. It features images of Trump on the campaign trail and music from composer Aaron Copland’s Hoedown. The clip concludes with a photo of Trump hugging the flag and then the screen reads: “Trump…He’s What’s For America.”
I’m including the clip below and some additional commentary from the Twitterati. Enjoy.

Trump had decided if he can't win the Nobel Peace Prize, he'll just steal it.

Trump is pretending he fucking won the Nobel Peace prize, because it's always awarded to motherfucker's who kill 300,000+ people, and try to destroy their own country.

Donald Trump tweeted a video that falsely suggested the Nobel Prize, and the image he used was the wrong medal.
Hey Donald – As a fellow Nobel Prize nominee, I just wanted to take a moment to remind you that a nomination does not mean you won.
And also, go fuck yourself.

Trump will never win a Nobel Peace Prize. But he’s a lock for the Noble Piece of Shit Prize.
