One can get in trouble making certain generalizations, like saying people in Mississippi are stupid or Arizona is the best state in which to live, or things like “Republicans are dumber than Democrats.”

Yes, big generalizations like that can get one in trouble because there is always personal judgment involved and, of course, there are always exceptions. Having said that, we say with certainty, Republicans are dumber than Democrats.

Has anyone ever wondered why it is that the United States has such a high number of cases of COVID per capita? Why is it that countries with a bunch of adults like South Korea, New Zealand, and Australia have managed to make COVID a relative nuisance? Hell, New Zealand no longer has a single case. Not. One.

No, you have never wondered why because the answer is just so damned obvious. The other nations do not have a MAGA party, aka “Republicans,” but most “Republicans” are now part of the Lincoln project, or in the case of Steve Schmidt and Nicolle Wallace, now registered Democrats. The MAGA party calls itself the GOP but it’s not. It is the Trump party.

And because other countries are not cursed with a Trump party these other countries don’t lead the world in COVID cases!

Now, some people on Parler are starting to figure this whole thing out. They have noticed that it’s only Republicans that are getting COVID. That is peculiar to them. Their conclusion is that COVID is a Democratic plot to take the presidency or kill off Republicans, or something.

“COVID poisoning?” Well, I suppose that one could make an analogy. If you choose not to drink poison, you won’t be poisoned. If you choose to wear a mask and socially distance, you likely won’t get COVID.

It would be funny if it weren’t so sad. People like this have wrecked this nation, at least temporarily. Keeping the virus completely out wasn’t a reasonable goal, keeping it managed as well as possible was. Without people like this, we wouldn’t be afraid to even go out and get gas, our hospitals wouldn’t be breaking, and even people who take precautions sometimes get sick anyway.

Because of them, some of us are now wearing three masks, glasses, and a hat when we go inside any public area. It’s our own personal PPE and for the most part, and if you stand ten feet away from people, it’s actually fairly safe. The dumb ones are standing beside each other laughing, face to face, no masks.

And they wonder …
