Trump Ally Chris Christie BLASTS the ‘Absurdity’ of Trump’s Continued Litigation

Chris Christie is a lot of things. He was one hell of a corrupt governor, allegedly. He can be an obnoxious jerk. He was and still can be a Trump pal – at times. And he got played by Trump any number of times. But one thing no one doubts about Chris Christie is that he was and is one hell of a lawyer. At an amazingly young age, he was the U.S. Attorney in a prestigious New Jersey district and he’s never lost that edge as a litigator.

Oh, and he has never, ever, been afraid to criticize what he sees as wrong or stupid. He is a jerk but he’s a smart one and often maddeningly right.

Today he was satisfyingly right because someone on the Trump side needed to say it. This is all getting ridiculous. He laid it out in an interview on ABC’s This Week. Transcript via Mediaite:

“Well, listen, the legal theory put forward by his legal team and by the president is an absurdity,” Christie fired back. “And the reason why the Supreme Court didn’t take it is because it’s an absurd idea to think that any state, or any number of states, no matter how good they are, can challenge another state’s right to run the election as they see fit. And also there’s no evidence.”

Correct. Indeed his analysis sounds familiar since this site has said the same thing about a dozen times.

Raddatz asked what happens to the GOP as a political party, but Christie wasn’t done blasting the campaign’s actions and absurdity:

“People are going to have to stand up and start to say these things,” Christie replied. “I mean, you know, the fact is in Georgia, and people should know this, that signature verification, which the president continues to tweet about, has been done twice in this election.”

Correct. But people are not standing up and saying things. Trump is the only one talking and if he keeps saying they need signature verification it could have been done 22 times and his followers will say “Damn right! If there was ever a signature verification, he’d have won by 500,000 votes.”

That doesn’t mean that Christie wasn’t right to just eviscerate the entire approach.

“The reason the Supreme Court is not taking this is not because of a lack of courage. It’s for the same reason that every court has thrown this out. It’s a lack of evidence and a lack of any type of legal theory that makes any sense,” the former governor added.

Correct. And, again, it sounds awfully familiar. He just has a much bigger platform and we’re glad he used it. He was and remains an extremely good attorney, along with everything else.
