Election 2020

Trump More Devastated Over Losing PGA Championship Than He is Over Being Impeached (For a Second Time)

In the days since Wednesday’s violent uprising at the Capitol, social media platforms have dropped President Donald Trump like a hot potato, his own Vice President has defied him (not enough, however), several members of his Cabinet have resigned and he’s now facing a historic second impeachment. But The Week reports this isn’t what bothers Trump the most.

Instead, it seems the PGA’s decision to move the 2022 PGA Championship from Trump National Golf Club, in Bedminster, New Jersey has upset him the most. That’s according to The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman Monday.

One source close to the White House told her Trump is “gutted” by the decision, and that even though he’s upset about the House moving forward with the impeachment, his reaction to losing the tournament was of a “different order of magnitude.”

“A lot has happened in the last week, including the President losing his Twitter feed, impeachment coming to the fore and the PGA withdrawing from Trump National,” Haberman noted on Twitter. “He’s ‘gutted’ by the PGA move, a source close to the White House says.”

“He’s angry about impeachment, people who have spoken to him say,” she added. “But the reaction to the PGA decision was different order of magnitude.”

Indeed, Trump’s ship is sinking quickly, especially after last week’s deadly riot but the man has been on a collision course with reality throughout much of his term, and that’s especially so since he lost the election. He’s threatened Vice President Mike Pence, lied continually about the election results, intimidated people, and is quite obviously panicking because he knows legal troubles await him after the inauguration.

All of this is his own doing, so if his world is imploding it’s on him.

Political analyst Jeff Greenfield noted in a Twitter post where Trump’s priorities really are, and none of them have anything to do with the impeachment proceedings or the harm wrought by his crazed supporters on the Capitol building. Nope. Not even.

Is anyone even remotely surprised?
