Election 2020

After Talking About ‘Rioting’ for Trump for Years, Jim Bakker Now Insists That ‘Christians Don’t Riot’

On the Tuesday episode of The Jim Bakker Show, it became apparent that Jim Bakker has a short memory. I say this because while he was conversing with End Times author Jonathan Cahn, he claimed that Christians had nothing to do with the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. whereupon supporters of former president Donald Trump, drunk on his lies, stormed the building in an attempt to prevent the certification of President Joe Biden.

Then Bakker and Cahn used the opportunity to blame left-wing activists, first insisting that Christians didn’t take part in the uprising and claiming the left is using the tragedy to shutter churches and persecute believers, according to Right Wing Watch.

“I still don’t understand all of that,” Bakker said. “Christians don’t burn buildings down. Christians don’t riot. They just don’t. I’m talking about born-again Christians, biblical Christians.”

It’s interesting he says this because just three months before the election he was claiming that if Trump lost the election Christians would revolt.

“I’m scared for America. I really am,” he said at the time. “I want to warn America … we’ve got a few more days to stand up. It’s going to be too late after the election, I believe. I think if we elect the wrong people — and you see how wrong it’s been — we’re gonna have a revolution.”

Then he used a tactic that’s very common among evangelicals, to rile up his gullible base: bringing up those notorious pro-choice people.

“The church people are going to march in the street and realize they’ve gone too far, and we can’t let the m*rder of babies lead the way,” Bakker said. “We can’t let people burn America. We can’t let the rebellion take over. This is not going to be a nice place to live.”

Of course, I can’t help remember that at one point he also said Christians would “riot” if Trump was impeached. This was back in November 2017, and he’s actually been impeached twice.

“If they go through with that, there will be a riot in the United States of America, and you’re going to find little old ladies rioting, you’re going to find church people out rioting because they’re not going to take it anymore.”

He followed that up a month later with this:

“It’s unconstitutional to do what they’re doing. There is going to be an explosion if you don’t stop it. People are not going to tolerate it anymore. … “I wouldn’t even be surprised if you don’t see quiet old ladies, like some of you sitting here, marching in the streets because America is not even going to be worth living in in another year or two, the way we’re going if we’re not careful. We can’t let people take over who hate God.”

But now he’s claiming Christians don’t riot. He certainly does seem to have a short memory. Maybe it’s all the colloidal silver he’s drinking.
